    First G-Shock just arrived (GWM5600)

I never thought I'd wear a digital watch again, but I just got a GWM5600 (ostensibly for running/working out) and I like it so much I think it's going to go into the general rotation. I'm not really used to all of the functionality the thing offers but I'm slowly learning how it works. One quick question: anybody have trouble getting their watches to synch in NYC? I tried it yesterday and no dice. Maybe there are too many buildings around? Anyway, I'm kind of surprised by how cool this thing is.

Congratulations on the new G. The GW-M5600 is a good one. As for a sync in NY, that is unlikely to work during the day. Conditions are generally best between 1:00 and 5:00 AM.

Hey dougie, congrats on your new G. It may be the buildings but you could also try facing the watch west towards Colorado where the atomic clock is in Ft. Collins. Also check to make sure that your watch is set to Auto Synch. Hopefully that will help.

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately my exposures are north and south which seem to preclude me from autosynching the thing, but it's still only about 1.5 seconds ahead of official time. I'll figure out a way to synch it somehow. More importantly, any way to convince the girlfriend that the watch is actually really effing cool and she's just off base?

Well, since we're talking about an atomic watch, you can guarantee her that you'll never be late for a date ever again. Yeah, that should do it.
