    First G-Shock. Modding?

    Hey there,
Yesterday I got my first G-Shock, the GWM5610. The construction got me wondering about swapping out the case (bezel?) and straps.

Is this a common practice as with some Seiko divers? If so, where could I find some hardware and what is G-Shock parlance for the different pieces?

Thanks for the help. I'm really happy with my purchase.

Here is a chart showing the bezel and strap compatibility for some common square models.

I get my bezels and straps from PacParts, but Tiktox is another good place to get them.

I swapped the bezel and strap on my GLX-5600-1 using G-5600NV2 resin.

I remove the strap first, then remove the bezel.

Remove the four screws on the side of the bezel and it will pop off easily. I actually had more trouble removing the strap, because the spring bars didn't compress easily. Using a good quality spring bar tool helps. After installing the new strap, be sure to push the spring bar ends fully into the lug holes, so the strap doesn't accidentally pop off.

ebay is good for bezels as well, PacParts relies on patience at times.

I think maybe I should have put in the additional information window at pacparts when ordering "I have no patience", maybe things would move quicker then

I actually have them send the whole order only when they have all the parts, so I expect it will take a while, waiting on a bundle of new parts to make a couple of more customs. Hell, I am waiting on watches too, one is now stuck at customs waiting for me to pay VAT.....Grrrrrr! I guess I can't be lucky all the time.
