    The "Fisherman"

The DW-8600, one of the defunct "Man" series from the late 90's. Has some lunar, tidal, temp functions among other things. Came in about a dozen different varieties. I did a search on both Fisherman and DW8600 and didn't find any reviews. I was curious if anyone has one and what your thoughts are on it. Recommended? Skip it? Here's one of the many variations:

Never seen one, like the functions and if I was to see a good one at a reasonable price, would not hesitate to buy.

Correction, I found one brief post on the Fisherman, I also found a review. It seems like the Fisherman was the predecessor to the Gulfman.

From a collecting standpoint, I'd say definitely snag if you get the chance. Being as rare as it seems, it would be a cool piece to have.

Encourage someone. The world has enough critics.

    Re: The "Fisherman"

I can't speak of it's rarity and I'm not out to collect the rarest G's by any means. Also, the last thing I need is to start a mission of collecting all the "-Man" models. As fun as the hunt would be, I just don't like the looks of many of the older -man watches. I guess I was hoping some of the veteran members here would have had one at some point in their collecting endeavours and might have some hands on experience with it.
The Fisherman does have some attributes that get my attention.
    1. It's somewhat conservative looking.
    2. I like the sunset/sunrise, moonset/rise, moon age, temp and tide features. Besides my MRG Tactician I haven't picked up any other G's with those features.
    3. I like that it's titanium, at least the back, buckle, and strap screws anyway, I'm assuming the buttons and case are titanium as well.
    4. I like the added protection of the button covers.
    5. The version I like has resin similar to the DW5025D Ocean Gray and I'm a sucker for gray jelly.
I'll think about it before pulling the trigger. I just made another purchase today anyway so the addiction monster has been satiated for the time being :)

    Re: The "Fisherman"

I had bought one years ago but it got "lost" in a Customs stop overseas. Unless you are living near a body of water & need to use all the information that it has, it would only be a novelty. The newer Gulfman series has better readability. If I remember though, you were able to input your local longitude & latitude as well as lunitidal information to get a really tailored read-out for your area. That's something that is lacking in the modules of today. Still, all in all, it is a great example.

Only ever seen one, on eBay, and that had no bezel! I would imagine that these also suffered resin rot then?

    Re: The "Fisherman"

Interesting how it shows "day-month", instead of the usual "month-day"
