Some one smarter than me will correct me Im sure but there are two kinds of auto illuminators. One means tht whenever the watch is raised above a certain angle and its a dark environment the light will come on automatically. You can check this one in the bathroom with the lights off! LOL

The other (on most older models) means (i Think) that when an alarm goes off or the timer the light will come on.

    (I think) lol...

hope so. otherwise the auto-EL would be ...

had it for service and the guy there - i bought many watches there - said he never saw a fire fox in that good shape like this one... except new ones. that made me happy. but i forgot to ask him about this problem with the backlight.

he didn`t have to change the back-seal cause it was like new...!!!

    fine i think!

    Hi GBG,

Let me guess, you've got a three eyed Foxfire, 6900 type? Then the symbol is not the auto illuminator, but the Flash indicator. If it's on, the watch flashes when the alarm goes off Congratulations with your watch!

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    Sjors,

Why do we have to wait 17 minutes after switching Flash? I have a DW-6900MC but I have never used that function, yet...

    Ha ha, Mike,

Uh, it was just 17 minutes to 18:00 hours here He had to wait for the hourly chime It's more a gadget, you won't miss much if it is switched off (press three seconds on the bottom right picture).

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    Hahaha. Thanks Sjors!

The main reason I didn't activate it was to conserve the battery.
