    G-1400-1A3 vs GW-4000-1A3JF. Same watch?

Decided to purchase the GW-4000-1A3JF. JonL posted a wonderful unboxing thread (https://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/new...re-670351.html). I spent about an hour hunting this watch down online (on quite a few Japanese websites). I guess the watch was never released in the US and this is the only way to get one. The prices I've seen are all above $400 US. During my search, while using descriptive words instead of the serial number, I found this listing: CASIO G-SHOCK G-1400-1A3 Gravity Defier Aviator Digital Watch | eBay. The watch serial number is listed as G-1400-1A3. My questions:

    1) Are the two watches in fact the same model? They look very similar. The only difference I can see is some of the writing (in green) on the bands.
    2) Does the retailer on eBay seem legit? Their feedback seems very good. Does anyone have experience with this particular seller? Is their location in Hong Kong a concern for any reason?

    Thanks!

GW-4000 is Multi Band 6 and tough movement, while G-1400 is only got tough solar but cheaper in price. Hope this help ;)

What is "tough movement"? The motor per hand?
Yes, I am OCD. What gave it away?

Karl has it right - the G-1400 is the same watch but missing the atomic sync feature as well as Tough Movt. Tough Movt is Casio's unique feature on atomic receiving watches where if the hands become out of alignment, due to shock or other means, the watch automatically correct the hands position. The hands alignment is checked every hour at 5 mins before each hour. The G-1400 should be an excellent G-Shock, and a good discount compared to the current JDM prices of the atomic GW-4000. Keep in mind though, in the US, the orange GW-4000 can be had for about the same price.

Basically if you really want the green one but don't want to pay the Japan price for it, you can go for the G-1400. The age old dilemma - features (orange GW4000 from the US) or looks (green G-1400 from Asia)?

Must be why that 1400 has "tough movement" printed all over the dial and the band...on a serious note, the movement is still tough solar so the watch should be super sturdy and resistant to all kinds of mechanical abuse, but the atomic sync is missing. In the past I would have said that atomic sync is not that important but after wearing GW3000 and GS1300 over the last year, I am so used to it and having the exact and accurate time all the time that I think it is worth the extra money...just my 2 cents

I went ahead and purchased the G1400 1A3 green dial version. The tough solar makes this an outstanding G-Shock that looks very "classy." I would have liked getting the Multi-band 6 GW4000 model but that's a high price for a green color model.

The only item of interest to me is an issue with the G1400 model. CASIO lists the accuracy at +- 15 seconds a month. This seems so unreasonable for a CASIO G-Shock.

Am I wrong? Is "tough solar" very good in real world use?

    Thanks, George

This happen to me too when i purchase the GW-3000. It just have extra " Multi band 6" wording on GW-3000 which G-1300 dont.
