    Question G-2000 — is this considered a "special" G-SHOCK?

Hi all. First post here. Steered this way by Kev at SCWF.

Quick question, I have a G-2000 I picked up a few years ago. Hardly ever use it, to be honest, but it live happily in my desk draw and keeps ticking away. Never had a battery change since I bought it, which is pretty amazing. I was going to stick it on eBay, but doing some research it would seem this might be a more desirable/collectable G-Shock than usual?

What's the story with this watch? I've searched this board and just found a few "nice G-2000!" type comments plus some heads-ups about fakes. Is it anything special? What are they worth?

The only thing I remember about this one when I bought it, was that there were pics on the net of a tower block in Tokyo with a huge hundred feet version on the side of it! Anyone got a link to that?

    Thanks, guys.

The G-2000 was actually a basic model with a screwback. It became populare, because it has a screwback, instead of the 4 screw back. Unfortunately this model has been hijacked by the fake watches industries. Loads of fake G-2000 models were released since about 2 years ago, which makes it not an interesting model to spot. The chance you get a fake one is to risky.

I think a real G-2000 is more disirable than another basic model, because of it's screwback. Though I don't think you must expect big amounts for it. On eBay is a G-2000 Viper on auction. You might expect this one might end up around $80 - $100 if people know where to find it.

In Japan there is at least one shop (G-Factory) with a HUGE G-2000 on the shop entrance.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

Interesting information Sjors. Mine is definitely authentic, bought from a UK authorized dealer. Sadly the box and instructions went AWOL during a recent house move. I might stick it on the 'Bay and see what happens.

    Hi Seamaster,

Please state in your auction then that you bought it from an authentic Casio dealer and it is not a fake model (well, I guess you would have probably done that is I din't wrote this anyway),

    Cheers,

The G-2000's are considered pretty low-end and not desirable at all. In fact, just to make things easy for you, I'll give you $5 for yours and take it off your hands for you!

In reality, it should do very well on ebay, as Sjors has mentioned, there are a lot of fake G-2000's for sale.

    Good luck!

I've wanted that model for a long time. I've yet to find (a real) one. :(

    Hi!
I am living in Hong Kong.
I think this is a special version G2000 and may not be easy to find nowadays.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi, that does indeed look to be a special one! Sjors and Oz would no doubt know for sure.

Looks very cool with the reverse display and bat, big thumbs up from me

Is this the long-lost "Batman"? Hehehe

EDIT: Wow Sjors posts faster than I can mention him :-D
