    G-cool......?

I've only heard of these in the last couple of days. What are they all about?

I've got a rare Pininfarina G-Cool. I'm unsure if they're all the same but mine apparently has genuine Ferrari throttle cables that attach the strap to the watch?

Features are dual time, stopwatch, timer etc.

A model line aimed at the surfing crew.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

    Re: G-cool......?

Hey Tribe, I thought it was the Extreme or G-Lide series that was for the surfing crowd?
    Hi Maine.
I read from somewhere that the G-Cool series debuted at the 1997 Paris-Milan Spring Collection fashion show. The series was supposedly designed as watches that would harmonize with the latest high fashion, in sharp contrast to the rough and tumble world of the typical G-Shock.
Anyway, here's some pix of the G-Cools:

    Wink Re: G-cool......?

The G-Cool series (three type of series) were more fashion models. In answer to the thinker '90's models, the G-Cool models were slimmer and more streamlined.

A model from the first series (also featured in the Movie "Entrapment":

These models came in black, white and several colors and with metal bracelets. They all have this typical metalic look plastic bezel.

The second series: The Pininfarina models:

Probably the best looking G-Cool. Has throttle cables in the straps, which refers to the designing works of Pininfarina for Ferrari.

    The third series:

Probably the G-Shock that looked didn't look like a G-Shock. I think it was not popular, only available very short time and very hard to find now. If you thought a Mudman's button is hard to push, you really need thumb muscles here.

    Release first series: 1996 - 1998
    Release second series:1999
    Release third series: 2001

    Cheers,

    Sjors

There are only 10 kind of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

    Re: G-cool......?

    Hi,
well I only got this one:

The display is probably the worst negative display I ever saw but the changing colors depending on the angle you look at the display are cool and I also like the domed crystal.
btw: if anybody's looking for the GC-1001 - there's one on here:
    http://www.s c h m i e m a n n.de/index.php?cat=WG1.05.24&lang=DEU&product=GC-1001-1BV&sidS C H M I E M A N N=0bf1bc68c306678400c103a78a44ef1a
I don't know why but the forum software keeps x-ing out the name - so you have to remove the empty spaces in the name 's c h m i e m a n n'. They also got some other rare models.

    Greetings, Sedi
    Cheers

These are really overlooked nowadays. It's actaully a very large series with at least 86 models:

The last ones came out in 2000.

I wonder if Casio would ever revive this series.

    Re: G-cool......?

Here is a 2000 Casio catalogue photo scan I just did:

As you can see they wants the G-Cool models to be associated with business attire, basically they already had the youth market. Now with the G-Cool they where trying to get a foot in the more grown up metrosexual and office crowd. This strategy only worked in Japan. In the rest of the world it failed. The G-Cool models always had a bad rep amongst the established G crowd. Mostly due to the strange futuristic design and the goofy name. People just did not think they where cool. G-Cools are dirt cheap and have no collectors premium value.

But lately an appreciation for the Pininfarina models have started to grow and they are beeing raised in value. But the other ones are still not very much valued!
