    G-Shock Atomic Timekeeping Israel

Hi guys! I brought my GWM-5610-1 with me to Israel. I changed the home time to Jerusalem and the watch won't sync automatically or manually. Is there any way to get the watch to sync here or is it impossible in this country?

    From the manual:

In your timezone it won't sync neither automatically neither manually.
You can try to change timezone and then attempt manual synchronization,
Watches are fun IF you don't take them seriously.

As CCCP said, and based on some other threads where people in Australia occasionally get the signal from Japan, you MIGHT occasionally be able to synch to the UK or German towers if and when the atmosphere is near-perfect for long-distance reception.

That will require changing your watch's home city to one of the cities that use those towers, crossing your fingers overnight while it tries to do an automatic synch, then changing the home city back in the morning. Unless you're awake in the middle of the night I wouldn't even try a manual synch since the signals don't travel as far during the day and evening.

There is also another option: Athens (ATH) is UTC+2 same as Jerusalem, and it would listen to the German DCF77 transmitter in Mainflingen. The distance is 3000 km so it would work only with perfect weather, but at least it wouldn't be necessary to change timezone for each attempt of synchronization.

some WUS members report that wearing a G at night help to sync as their bodies ... well ... kind of amplify the weak signal or act as an additional antenna. no kidding!

    Got to try this...

And indeed, my atomic watches have never problems syncing at night, while it's not sleays easy in a window.

Are you prepared to stand there with the watch against your head for 4 minutes? Sync starts at Midnight and finishes at 12:04. Please post that on your blog.:)

Ok, that's better. I was beginning to wonder. I thought you were in range of at least two transmitters.

Even under the best possible weather conditions it is highly unlikely to get a sync in Israel. If you brought a smartphone I recommend to check out and bookmark this site: Time.is - exact time, any time zone No furter need for a radio signal, in fact no need for an atomic watch at all....

    cheers
