I did a lot of looking and went ultimately for the new riseman (GW-9200). I think for swimming any new G-Shock is going to have the same integrity as regards water resistance so if that's your criteria its probably a style decision.

Are there other features you would like ? (solar charging, atomic timekeeping ?)

How much are you going to spend ?

Frogman does look extremely cool in my opinion - I think I will be investing in one sooner rather than later.

i think one that you can reach the buttons easily and which has no soft resin bezel, but is full plastic. cause there can get water and soap between bezel and body. and its never drys inside ans starts to smell.

so it can be a dw-290! not called g-shock but has great functions and is 200m WR. a great watch for swimmer. or if you want a bit smaller, there is the brother watch w-720 which is 100m WR.
both have easy access to buttons

    dw-290

    w-720

All G's have more water resistance than even most scuba divers will ever need. Just buy the watch you like. Frogs are extremely will built, but pricey. If you're a swimmer in the sense of "In a pool, trying to go fast" then you might prefer a sleeker model like a 5600 series.

Or fonklovers suggestions look good - especially the 290.

According to the manual, water resistant models are ok for splashes and rain but not for swimming, snorkeling, car washes etc which is 5600 series.

The models in the 5600 series are, like most Gs, water resistant to 200 meters with static pressure. Swimming, snorkeling and car washes are nothing to worry about.

Cool Re: which g-shock is the best for me?

Any G-Shock is fine for swimming because all are rated at 200 meters.

For less than $65, consider the GLX5600-1:

I don't like most 5600 models, but I like this one because it has a very cool strap and because in my opinion it has the coolest tide graph of any G-Shock (not that I need a tide graph). You can buy about five of these for the same price as a Frogman.

I have to agree, this could be a good watch, it was my first ever Casio. I will say, however, the band isn't all that great. I've had it replaced and the second band broke. I wore another G-shock for ten years and not one band replacement. Not sure what the problem is, but its an irritating one! Could be I used to swim a lot and the band did not like the chlorine?!
As for a good water watch, my two cents are these: Gulfman or Frogman.

    best in terms of?

if u r talking about water resistance, there are many many many G-shocks that can be used for swimming and more not only the frogman...

if u talking about functions? besides time, maybe a stopwatch is used during swimming, n i think every G-shock would have a stopwatch..
