    Re: G-SHOCK categories

Hi and welcome to the forum. Good question but a tough one to answer well as you will discover if you hang around. Many G-Shocks have specialty features but are versatile enough to be used for other purposes. You could say that any G-Shock could be used for any occasion - except perhaps for black tie affairs and you'll probably get some disagreement about that!
Buy what you like and you'll always be happy with it.

    Cheers, Greg

    Re: G-SHOCK categories

It's actually quite simple: there are 6 main categories.
    - MR-G
    - MT-G
    - GIEZ
    - Origin
    - Master of G
    - Advance

The first three can probably be considered the "high-end" lines of G-Shock as they normally do cost more, and have analog movements.

Most everything can be categorized into these lines. There are, of course, various sub-lines like the G-Lide (which is part of the Origin line) or the C3 lines (which is part of the Advance line).

You'll get a pretty good idea of the different lines and characteristics of each with time. I highly encourage you to take a look at the G-Shock catalogs. I recently posted a thread with the Japanese (and more comprehensive) version as well as the English version. I quick search should get you there.

We've all been where you are at some point, but learning about them is half the fun. Good luck!

I dig that website of Sjors, always cool to check out. But I seem to get weird and annoying pop-up ads everytime I'm on it. Anyone else have that problem or is it just me...?

    Hi Kiwi,

I have thrown away some statistics counters (there goes over 5 years of stats!). I replaced modded ones with new ones, that started the trouble. Thanks MOTIGO for this crappy spamming! If you are looking for counters of free services, keep away from them! If I did it right, the nasty pop-ups and slide unders should be drastically reduced.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

Good to hear, Sjors! Well, not about the lost stats...sorry about that one.
