    G-Shock DW-6300 - Light not working?

    Hello All

I recently bought a secondhand DW-6300 which is in pretty good condition. The only bad point is the light doesn't work. The button that operates the light is working as it resets the stopwatch as it should so I can only presume the bulb within the watch has failed.

My question for forum members - is this a common problem with this watch and is it repairable? I can live with it if it's a lot of hassle to fix.

Thanks very much for any advice given.

    Richard.

You cannot buy the light by itself, so you would need to replace the whole module. Since it is out of production, you would need to buy an entire new watch head, extract the module, and swap it with the module in your watch. It is no big deal, easy enough to do, but the hard part is finding another 6300 for sale at a cheap price, just to get the module. Sometimes people sell them without bezels for a good price, so that might be a way to look.

Is it possible that a fresh battery could solve the problem?

I would try swapping out the battery. Usually the first thing to quit working on a digital watch is the light. Good luck, update us with your results! Make sure to perform an AC reset.

Thanks for all the advice given. I did consider replacing the battery but I was reluctant to open the watch up - I guess I'll have too now.

It's been a while but I've finally had the battery in my DW-6300 replaced and the light is now working!

    Thanks for your help.
