    IS THIS G SHOCK FAKE?

Hi everyone, I am new to this site and am wondering how well the response will be to help me!

I brought a G shock off eBay and when it arrived the watch did not match pictures online. This being said I still liked the look of the watch I received and am wondering whether it is fake or not. Picture are as follows. Thanks for your help.

It's not fake per se, but it was put together from diffrent parts. DW-6900 caseback and light button and probably bezel and strap too. But I have no idea where they got the module from, it's not from 6600. Maybe some other older g-shock...

Replied in the other thread where OP asked the same question - the module is from a DW-002.

Thanks guy I appreciate your response and knowledge. I understand from what you have said it has been put together form different parts, would that make it fake? And will it perform to the same standard?

There's also a red G on the backlight when it lights up?

    Question is:
If it's a Franken watch, how has it performed?
Not a GShock spcialist but looks ok.
I own 8 G's among 11 Casios of other iterations.
SIL has 11 GShocks. He's the family GShock guru.

It's works well if I'm honest, face looks a bit yellow, like a old colour type, but about from that it's fine

The parts used are seemingly genuine and should hold up well. Now, if the proper steps were followed during the modification process (i.e. proper seating of the O-rings and lubing with silicone grease), it will perform just as good as a new G-shock. Also, double check whether all buttons are working as expected and there are no stuck buttons or malfunctioning buttons anywhere.

Module swaps are quite easy - there are quite a few G-shocks which share parts - some watches share the same modules but different body style, other watches share the same body with different internal modules. If a module is the same shape and size and the layout of buttons on the case is the same, the module can be swapped.

The red G on the backlight is a feature of the original module. LCDs tend to yellow with age, that should not affect the functionality. The way I see it, if you got it for a low price and it works well, there's no harm in using it as a beater/daily watch. However, genuine DW6600s are considered as collectibles and fetch good prices - so if you paid a significant sum for the watch, you should be asking for a refund.
