    G-Shock plastic strap buckle removal

Dear all, has anyone worked out how to remove the plastic buckle on the straps of newer GAs (GA400/800)?

I have a GA835 that I wanted to see if I could pop a black strap keeper on in place of the gold one, easily removed a metal buckle of a 5600 strap by depressing the spring bar, but the newer model seems to have a solid bar mounting the plastic buckle to the strap.
    Any suggestions?

I have used 2 pairs of needle nose pliers. Grip each side close to the bar using the pliers and pull the buckle legs apart.

The buckle legs will snap back onto the bar when installed on the other strap.

I can't believe the bar would be solid, they had to get it on somehow....interested in how this comes apart, because I want to order this same watch and do the same thing with the strap keeper. Have you tried pushing from both sides?

I have tried "compressing" the two sides together. As the other poster suggests I think if you carefully pry the buckle apart, as it is plastic it could be removed, I just didn't want to get too physical with it in case it snapped.
Maybe a bath in hot water will make it a bit more pliable?
