    G-Shock in Tokyo

Dear friends, would be in Tokyo Japan early Sept, are there any special stores or places to hunt for good and cheap priced G Shocks in Tokyo? Kindly enlighten also wanted to know if we could directly pick the G shocks from the Rakuten sellers while in Tokyo?

I am not an expert on this topic, but just that questions like this have come up so frequently in the forum, here are some recent threads. I leave for others to answer your other questions.

Either Bic Camera or Yodabashi Camera are excellent options. They both stock largely the same items and prices will be similar if not identical. They will have all the current releases but unlikely to see older ones or any kind of discounts. The biggest discount is really the cheap yen at the moment - depending on where you're coming from of course. There are many outlets of both around Tokyo. West of Shinjuku Station is a good option as both Bic and Yodabashi are there and they have some english speaking staff. I prefer Bic Camera personally because I have a loyalty card there where you accumulate points on purchases. Points from a recent Fridge purchase funded most of my new Rangeman. Obviously that's not a factor if you're just visiting though. See here for the full list of Bic Camera outlets :

I'm actually thinking of dropping in today to see if they have the new Mudmaster in yet.

Akihabara is also definitely worth a look. Even just to walk around to see all the specialist shops - like the one selling second hand parts from 1980s computers. I haven't been over there for a while, but you might have more luck finding someone selling secondhand and rare Gs there.

For 2nd hand stuff Nakano broadway is another option.

There are probably other specialist G-Shock sellers around the place. I've only recently gotten interested in Gs again though - so I haven't really searched that hard.

Re Rakuten sellers - hard to say. Looking at the auto-translated nature of many of their pages I'd guess they have minimal if any English speaking staff. And they may not actually be based in Tokyo. It can't hurt to drop them a note to ask though.

Thanks that might prove very useful. Traveling to Tokyo is what I anticipate as reward for completing a larger project. Last time I loved the excellent condition of second hand things. A very nice G would be a very good souvenir.

+1 for Yodobashi & Bic especially the Shinjuku & Akihabara locations.
"Jack Road" (Nakano Broadway) also has used, but not sure about G-Shocks.
There are also quite a few stores in the Okachimachi area.

If you're buying new, prices are pretty competitive, so there won't be too much difference from store to store.
You can get duty free prices at most places - remember to bring your passport when you shop.
