    G-Shock troubleshooting question???

    I own a

    G-Shock Tough Solar Model # GW-810H

    my question is this;

sometimes when I press the light button, it doesn't come on and the 3 battery indicators (H,M,L) begin to flash repeatedly, where the it doesn't allow me to use the light at all...this stops after a while and normal function of the watch resumes...all other functions seem to work fine except for the light and beep.

my battery shows that it is charged on High.

    What is my watch doing?

    Thanks in advance.

I guess the accu is weak.
So i would suggest 2 steps:
    1. place the watch 2-3 days in bright sunlight to charge and check the light afterwards
    2. if step 1 is not working, check if warranty still applies and return it. If warranty is gone, try a battery(accu) exchange.

Try charging it in the sun,2 - 3 days and see if it works.
May be a dead battery also

The charging indicator is just showing the idle voltage of the battery.
    Its sometimes misleading.

sorry if this is a dumb question...accu is the battery? so even this solar watch has a regular flat battery in it? or is this something different? is it difficult to find/purchase?

I don't have a warranty anymore on the watch.

    thanks for the help.

    Its a lithium-ion button cell CTL1616.
    Its not a CL1616 which is non-rechagable!

The CTL1616 can be found online, i suspect that the most watchmakers dont have it in stock.

    Re: G-Shock troubleshooting question???

I am currently researching some of the models and reading various manuals....
In the manual of GW-M5600 (it uses CTL1616) it says:

    - If you use the illumination or alarms a number of times during short period, all of the battery power indicators (L, M, H) will flash and the following operations will become disabled until battery power recovers
    Illumination
    Beeper tone
    Time calibration signal reception
After some time, battery power will recover and the battery power indicators will stop flashing, which indicates that the above functions are enabled again

of course. (sun)light delivers the energy, the solar panel catches it but the CTL1616 battery stores it.

    cheers
