    G-Shock X Gundam - Limited Edition RX-78-2 | MS-06S

For the 30th Anniversary celebration of G-Shock, the two Gs partnered up to release two limited edition G-Shocks in the DW-5600 and DW-6900. The special edition white DW-5600 is based on Gundamn RX78-2, the iconic Gundam design as a testbed weapon for Earth Federation. Meanwhile, the red DW-6900 is based on the MS-06S Zaku II Zeon mobile suit that is most common in the beginning of the show.

For the fans of Gundam, the special edition G-Shocks incorporate artwork and elements of the two suits from Gundam on the straps and also a character logo on the stainless steel back. Absolutely to become desirable collectors’ items, these watches will be up for pre-order in the second half of October, and will be available for sale in March 2010.

To be more precise, the Zaku units shown in the pilot episode are the MS-06F type; those are the most common Zeon mobile suits since they are grunt units. The MS-06S is reserved for field commanders and ace pilots i.e. Char Aznable, and as such they are not as common throughout the series. (Gundam geek, sorry).

Anyway, I think the choice of models is very appropriate; the 5600 reflects the RX-78-2's angular and streamlined design, while the 6900 is more in keeping with the Zaku's rounded and bulkier appearance. To make it even more appealing to the Gundam fan, the 5600's backlight should be yellow like the RX-78-2's eyes, while the 6900's backlight should be pink like the Zaku's monoeye.

Thanks for your information. If Casio can reissue the DW-6400 for their gundam release will be perfect.

Its abit early to talk about 30TH anniversary dont ya think?

To my knowledge the 30TH anniversary will be in 2013 not 2010 and Casio will start celebrating it in 2012.

    30-year anny? Really?...2010?

Maybe I should go back to school and learn how to count in 'G-years'

Nice models but 30 anny they aren't, LOL

Maybe Casio plans to start early and build up the celebrations, with 2013, the actual anniversary year, as the climax. Weird.

    LOL,

I started calculating yet. Casio staerted 2007 with celebrating their 25th... Now 3 years earlier for their 30th...

    Nice models BTW,

    Cheers,

Yes, I was just going to say that. Gundam is 30 years old. From Wikipedia: "The metaseries started in 7 April 1979 as a serial TV show called Mobile Suit Gundam."

Casio will probably wait at least another 6 months before starting their celebration.
