Out next month: The G-Shock "G-Steel" GSTS100D-1A4, featuring: Layer-Guard Structure for Shock Absorption, Twin LED Lights, Luminescent Index and Auto Hand Position Correct

    from G-Shock Australia

    EDIT:

same size as the MT-G ((MT-G is 53.3mm x 58.6mm with a thickness of 15.5mm, while the G-Steel is 52.4mm x 59.00mm with a thickness of 16.2mm), has a steel Layer-Guard Structure for Shock Absorption, Twin LED lights with Luminescent Index (Auto light), Auto Hand Position Correct, Tough Solar timekeeping and 48-city time zones. In great news for those ballin’ on a budget, it will be about half the price of the MT-G!

from G-Street. (thanks to aalin13 for the link!)

There will be 6 models in this series, will update when they reveal more.

Introducing the G-Shock G-Steel range, a watch series with a new “layer guard structure.” Different materials are used for the bezel to create a two-layer structure that adds a new dimension of shock-resistance. For models that use stainless steel in the upper part of the bezel, shock-absorbing resin is employed in the lower part. Where resin is used in the upper part, fine resin is used in the lower part to cushion against impact from the upper part. This also has made it possible create a wide range of different designs. The GSTS110 models express the hardness and beauty of metal, while the GSTS100 models feature a tough, quality design molded of resin.

Both series come with resin band options and Tough Solar capabilities. A hand shift feature temporarily moves hands out of the way with the press of a button for easy reading of digital display contents, while double LED face illumination keeps information easy to read at all times.

    · Layered Guard Structure
    · Tough Solar
    · Hand Shift Feature
    · Double LED Light

Doesn't seem to have solar. Also, I wonder what material the black bezel is made of. Definitely curious to learn more about it though, seems to be a cheaper version of the MTG line

I'm fairly sure that the top right quadrant of the 3 o'clock sub-dial says Solar?

It seems like an update of the previous generation of MTG (metal twisted G) having a metal case but protecting the dial with a resin bezel.

I'm not a huge fan of that style of triple sub-dials but the twin LEDs is a definite improvement.

L M H at the bottom, definitely Solar unless they want people to be paranoid over battery life XD

Looks fairly neat, would like to see one in person!

Good eyes, I didn't spot that. I was scanning and looking for "tough solar"...

    Some more info:

Looks like this one is out for me, too big at 59mm. Half the price tag of MTG would be nice though

    Re: "G-Steel" GSTS100D-1A4

so basically its an all metal m100 with a 7700 bezel?

logical progression tho with the way the "classier" looking analogs have been selling. i wouldnt be surprised if they did more all metal versions of some of the other popular models lower down the range and make them a semi premium model.
i dont mind it but am a bit over analogs atm, plus im still saving myself to do naughty things to the mudmaster (:<
