    G3010 Bites The Bullet

Actually they're pellets, but you get the idea. Sorry for poor picture quality. The range with both pistol and rifle is 6 yards.

    Tools of doom:
    (Round 1)
Pistol: BRNO TAU7 Co2 Target Pistol
Ammo: Dynamit Nobel 'Geco' .177 lead pellets (light weight)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKRlRJqTtUk

Here you can see where the pellet hit the plastic covering on the back.

The pellet that hit the plastic covering compared to a new one:

As you can see, I'm making slow progress with these pellets:

It's time to try the same pistol with a heavier pellet, a .177 Crossman Matchpel.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TBltJogPZo

The Matchpel leaves a honeycomb of hairline fractures on the crystal after a direct hit:

    Time for the big guns:

    (Phase 2)

    Wierach HW97k .22 air rifle
    .22 Matchpel Pellets (Heavy)

First the EL button. This is obliterated but the watch still functions. There is some bleeding on the display above where the button was.

Now one side of the bezel is taken off, along with a button pusher:

Now for a direct hit on the crystal. This is the good bit.

The crystal was totally disintigrated, and the display completely shattered.

I saw the dartboard and though you'd tested the watch with darts.

That's very interesting, Lexx, they certainly can take a beating. Ouch! Thanks for sharing, were the results what you expected?

I once killed a Seiko diver too, and I can still hear its squealing.....

No, I expected the pistol to take out the crystal at that range. With a Matchpel I can smash beer bottles at 20 yards and go through one side of a food can. All the pistol did was put a lot of fine cracks in it. It may appear the pistol wasn't putting out much power, but even a light lead pellet at around 5 ft/lbs at such close range packs some punch.

The rifle had no real problems, it scattered the crystal like sugar grains in a 2 foot arc around the dartboard. I didn't expect it to come out the back though as those case backs are quite sturdy. I may take another shot at it with the rifle using, instead of the flat Matchpell, a Powerpell or a Promethius Sn2 which is a high penetration pellet. I think that will at least put a dent in the back.

Lexxorcist, I have reported you to the SPCGS (Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To G-SHocks). That looks so painful, poor bugger

When I went to Lexxorcist's video Youtube recommended this on the side:

Does it still beep when you push buttons? That would indicate the circuit board is functioning. Does the EL glow when you push the button stump?

I think you're the first on this forum to actually BREAK his G in a torture test.

No, nothing works at all. The strong case-back prevented the display and module being forced out the back. When the bezel part on one side was knocked off, it tore the screw and a button pusher out with it. Not even the strap is salvagable, as it was split just above where the EL button was.
