Question G9000MS-1 right round button wear off

    Dear all,

I brought my first G-SHOCK only last week and realise that my mudman's round button started to show wear off. Is it normal? All experts please give me some comments.

    I'm guessing yes.

    They are rubber.

Could this be due to cheap materials that are being used for the outer casing of this particular watch? I've noticed that the very outer edges of the resin cases on some regular Mudman watches are worn too. They look shiny like they've been rubbed down. And these are all brand spankin new watches that I noticed that on.

The buttons were perfect when I brought it but recently I realise that white layer started to form (perhaps signs of wearing off). Then shiny part start to appear near the edges. I am a bit disappointed about the quality of the watch.

Are you pushing it with finger nails?

Perhaps you are pushing them to hard...

Another possibility is that it was exposed to resin deteriroating acidic compound from your fingers or eleswhere...

Or perhaps the platsic blend in the factory was wrong when your copy was made, but that is less likely...

But first just try to clean it with a toothbrush under running water and see how it looks like with the dirt removed...

    Hi,

I did not push the button with my fingernails as I know it will cause damage to the surface. However, I did push the button with some effort as it is kind of stiff when I first brought it. As for the resin deteriorating acidic compound you mentioned, I can't remember if I contacted any. Perhaps I am a little unlucky.

Resin deteriorating acidic compound. This is getting ridiculous. Has the watch stopped functioning? Don't worry about it. Pushing the button with a finger, toe, stick, screwdriver, toothpick, whatever, it doesn't matter. It's a G Shock! Does it still keep accurate time?

Probably...I use my nails to push the buttons sometimes, too.

    That's definitely weird.

Looks like it's been worn down and started to delaminate, which shouldn't happen just from being pushed.

or It may have been exposed to resin deteriroating acidic compound.

I think we have a cool new Acronym. I will have to keep my Muddie and the rest of my Gs away from RDAC.
