    Gasket/Seal for G-2000 from 2000 or 2001

Hi, I recently went to replace the battery on my G-2000 and the seal has perished.

The battery only lasted a decade! The watch to be fair has had a very hard life, it has been used for hiking, mountain biking, sea kayaking and has been exposed to sweat, sea water and general filth A LOT.

Where can I get a new seal? Anyone know the part number?

I have replaced the back for the time being and will treat the watch as non-waterproof but it would be great to be able to wear it worry free.

I have a GW-7900 for waterproof duties for the time being.

    Thanks in advance!

    Dan

Hi and welcome to the forum!
You might ask Keith who runs tiktox.com if he can get one but it might be possible those are discontinued.

    cheers, Sedi

Seeing that the gasket on that model is round, I'd think that any watch repair shop would have something that fits.

You could also buy a tube of gasket maker at an auto supply store and make your own.

    Cheers Gents.

Casio UK have come back to me with a part number and price (£5 shipped) eventually.

However by the time I have bough the grease, it's probably cheaper just to use gasket maker.

5 gbp! You can buy a box of 300 in varying sizes for around £10. Its not a custom o-ring or anything.. Good luck

Shocker, you're right! Do you know if I need flat gasket or round o-ring?

I am always amazed at the prices some people charge for the round O-rings. I can understand if it is a proprietary shape and is a rare part, but these are just round O-rings. Should never be more than 50 cents. Even that is kind of a rip off. If you get the large variety pack you will find something that fits. Go for round, not flat

Did you ever get a gasket?

    If so where from?

Tiktox don't have any. There are some 100pc assorted watch gasket kits available for about £5 on eBay but they are assorted sizes in the range up to 30mm which I think would be too small and then 32-50mm. However, they look very thin at 0.5mm diameter. The word assorted usually means every size except the one you want in my experience.

I bought the 32-50mm gaskets, greased it up, and refitted the screw back.

Seemed like a reasonable fit and the gasket definitely compressed when the screw back was nearly tight so it should definitely be swimming proof if not super waterproof.
