    Lightbulb A Good Sticky! 200M & 20BAR Water Resistant. What's the difference?

Guys, this question is often asked so this small piece of info. will be much appreciated

The words *WR20BAR* on the watch face is a pressure measurement unit meaning 20 Bars, that converts to 19.73 atmospheres which is fairly close to 200 metres water resistant. European and USA models usually say 200 metres, as opposed to Japanese models which say 20bars.

The letters WR stand for Water resistant.

    Hi Mike -

I've noticed the band retainer is getting a little discoloured, but the band and bezel seem fine.

The band retainer is more of a rubbery, almost absorbing feeling resin.

The band and bezel feel a little smooth and not so absorbing if this makes sense:-D

Either way, don't worry. Get one, they look awesome

I'm sure if it gets to bad after ten years, it's money well spent.
Then again, you could replace it later on with any GW-20X band and bezel

    Hi Ozz,

Part of the information is wrong.

Not all Japanese model states 20Bar.

A good example: the Japan only model frogmans states 200M and not 20BAR

    cheers~

    Hi Sky -

You are correct. My white 2006 I.C.E.R.C and a few other Frogman's state 200m, so yes, not all Japanese models state 20BAR, although many do.

Maybe they are changing. 20 Bar may be an old measurement.

I get many email's from people around the world asking me what it means so It drives me crazy:-D

It's logical that the ICERC Frogman says 200m water resist, it's not a JP-only model. They are sold in South East Asia too. I also think 200m water resist is a better description, since it's more visual to most people than 20 BAR.

    Cheers,

    Sjors
There are only 10 kind of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

    Hi Sjors -

Nobody said it's "Japan only" model that states 200M.

The post which I thought would be a good sticky, states that "Japanese models usually say 20Bar" Not "always".

    Hi Sjors,

Besides the ICERC frogmans, other frogmans also state 200m and not 20BAR.

    cheers~
