GSHOCK Gravity Defier GW4000/G1400 build quality

    Hello,

I have a question to owners of GW4000 and G1400 watches. After having received my watch, I have noticed a possible flaw in the construction of the watch. On the side of the watch, where the bezel is being "held", the material is not solidly placed together. There are 'chinks', through which you can see the screws on the other side.

Here is a picture of the points in question:

Here is a picture (courtesy of another WIS), which demonstrates the problem:

You can see the described flaw in the top part of the picture. It's not that it's a major problem, but after I noticed this, I cannot help but notice it anytime I look at the watch and get upset.

Is this indeed a flaw? Do your watches have those? Please help me get this off my chest.

    Thanks.

Why is that necessarily a flaw? Maybe it makes it more shock resistant (e.g., if you band the side of the watch, there is a little more spring back effect to cushion the blow). Maybe it helps water drain out when the watch gets wet?

The thing is that this feature is not present on all of the watches in question. I've asked around on other forums and most people say they don't have this on their watches.

I've handled maybe 3 of these, and while the first one didn't have any spaces on the bezel (or maybe I didn't notice), the other two certainly did.

I've also looked through the GW4000 thread and some of the images show the same symptom. I just wanted to clarify whether it is a build issue or not.

Mine has slight gaps on both sides. I never noticed it before. Since there seem to be others out there with slight gaps it must be an unimportant manufacturing variance. I'm not concerned about it.

I received my GW-4000-1A3ER today. Stunning watch and no such gaps on mine.

If you search for the thread "GW4000's" you will see my 3 do not have the gap. Others posted pics of theirs but I did not notice. I wonder if it is an evolutionary tweak?
Yes, I am OCD. What gave it away?
