'fraid vintage squares aren't my thing..................

is there a backlight image there, or is it just my eyes?

No backlight image. There is a slight flaw in the LCD that causes there to be a slight shadow in the center, but that's not relevant (though it does make me sad)

I´d guess it´s from the pre - backlight era, hence the upper right light button.
    No REM, soI´d say 901 DW5600C ?

DW-5600C with 901 module would have the REM....

Here's a big hint... the module predates all G-shocks. It is not a G-shock module.

Wait, wait... It´s still quite early here and i have not been paying attention. Let me guess again...

I think i know this module from one of my own watches... One of the DW series, i guess. I can rule out the DW 290, as it´s oblong and has a bar in the middle instead of the window upper right...

I guess I´ll give up until i had another coffee.

Haven´t you been asking if a 106 module might fit a G case?!

So, i will guess a second time: It is a 5600 ss case housing a Marlin module, number 106.

and may i add, no matter if i´m right or wrong, it looks quite nice!

Yes, it it a module from a 1980 Marlin with the 106 module. All functions work well in the DW-5600C case. The Marlin module looks the same as the DW-5600C module, in that it has the tabs on the front and alarm spring on the front, which utilize the speakers glued to the underside of the crystal. I wanted to put the module in a DW-5000SL case to make a clone of what would look like a DW-5000C 1983 (first G-shock), but unfortunately the modern Spike Lee model does not have the speakers on the underside of the crystal, so there would be no sound. (One of the main draws of the Marlin module is that it has the half hourly chime and hourly double chime, so not having any sound is a huge drawback). Anyhow, the fit inside the DW-5600C case is almost perfect.

The marlin crystal also fits the DW-5600C case, but it is just slightly smaller than the DW-5600C crystal, so I would be worried that it might not be water sealed unless it is glued in.
