    GW-500 with possible problem-need advice

I have had my GW-500 for at least a year and about 4 days ago, it was totally dead. I was told by a watch repair place to put it under a light all night. In the morning the watch was working, but the battery is only on M(medium). I bought it off eBay for about $40. Since repairs are way too expensive, should I just move on? (When it dies of course.)

Can I 'convince' the watch to charge to high? Its under a lamp right now (not directly under, of course)

Although most are not solar, the Mudman looks pretty nice.

I am bidding on a GW300, but I have read some bad things on this forum.

    Any thoughts?

Just give it a few days of indirect sunlight. Sunlight works much better for charging than indoor lighting.

Uhhhh...hello...NY cold, long sleeve weather still and it has already been 4 days.

How many days of indirect sunlight....when the watch can see some?

    Welcome to the Forum,

I had a G-2300(NOS) in recovery mode, took 10 days of sun light to keep it in full mode......so it does take time.

So is sunlight better the indoor/lamp lighting?

According to specs it can go 11 months with no light. Why did it go dead all of the sudden?

\Also, mine says water resistant to 20 BAR. Is that the same as 200M?

Did it go from high charge to dead overnight, or did it lose power in stages?

sunlight is better............unknown why it just went dead.........do you use the "auto-light" function? at all.

    20bar and 200M are the same(+or- a few feet).

To be honest, I never noticed if it was on high on not (the letters are TOO small), but I was wearing it at the gym and looked down and all it read was charge (I think, letters again too small).

As for auto light, is that when you flick your wrist and it comes on automatically? If it is, then yes its activated. I need to find the manual to disable that. I rarely use the light to begin with, so that feature isn't very usefull to me.

    1. Turn off the auto-light.
    2. Turn off the auto-receive.
    3. Turn off all alarms.
    4. Leave it in a room with light and give it time to recuperate.
