GW-5000-1JF solar panel color variation- updated with pics

I have a GW-5000-1JF and the solar panel's color is a bit violet/purple on the left side and very dark blue on the right side.

It's not because I'm holding it at a wrong angle, the solar panel really does have a gradient to it.

Is this normal? can anyone with a GW-5000-1JF confirm the color of their solar panel?

The LCD is fine and perfectly uniform.

While I do not have that particular model, I do have several solar G's. The composition of the solar panels is such that the violet multi hued cast, is even across the panel when viewed from any position around the perimeter of the display. Casio tends to have extremely good quality control, and yet it is possible to receive a defective watch. If you post some pictures for us to review, I'm sure several other members will check in with their take on it. Hopefully you've not had it beyond the return period in the event that's the action required.

Sorry don't have a camera at the moment but will update post with pics soon.
    halfapie,

Yes, I confirm that the right solar panel is a darker purple-blue relative to the other three solar panels. However, I find that it's only noticeable under certain limited lighting conditions. I had to use dim light and view the face at a 45 degree angle to discern the difference for the first time. Good spot.

My watch always shows a "H"igh charge. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yes I can only see this difference in dim lighting as well.

It is most easily seen at a 45degree angle, but if the lighting conditions are right, I can see it even when I view the watch head-on.

In sunlight, you cannot see the difference.

Here is the watch in dim light (florescent overhead lighting in my office, with the blinds closed).

Same light conditions, viewed head-on. It's hard to see the difference when viewed at this angle.

Here is the watch in indirect sunlight, near the window in my office.

On my desk, with the blinds fully open (lots of indirect sunlight).

What do you guys think? There is absolutely no problem with the watch holding good charge. It always stays on H.

    More pics:

    Office lighting, blinds closed.

And no, the light is not coming from the left. The light is coming from directly overhead.

    Hi,
I'm no expert but I don't think it's anything to worry about - my GW-6900 has this too - not to the same extent but enough that I see it under certain angles.

    Greetings, Sedi

Mhhh, I have a lot Solar G-Shocks and cant see any different colour between the left and right side of the solar panel

    BTW:
I am more bothered by the noticeable conducting paths on my GW-6900

Re: GW-5000-1JF solar panel color variation- updated with pics

After seeing the pictures, I've taken another look at mine. The funny part is I just had my eyes checked and I'm still 20/20. And yet for the life of me, I cannot notice any difference in mine. I even used a jewelers loupe, and a variety of light sources and still do not see any difference. Perhaps it's just on some of them.

I would say if your are charging fine and can get past the look, so it doesn't bother you, just leave it be.

    Cheers...

    Hi halfpie,

I've noticed the same kind of effect on my GW-M5600.
But with mine it's more scattered. I'd say I have 4 places with 2 different "colors".

To make it short... it's just the anti-reflective coating and nothing to worry about

    Greets,

    Matt

I was searching the web cos I have a circled spot in my riseman´s solar panel, in between where it says display and the red eye

its like a darker little circle, in the panel. anybody had or saw such a thing in their solar watches?
