    GW-5600j band options

I am wondering about the band options for the GW-5600j

How about use of "The Band" by chisco?
I know about issues regarding the use of adaptors and the Zulu.
How about just a standard military 16mm one-piece band?

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Issues?
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

The adapter on the upper lug used to fold inside about 90 degrees and looked
odd when I tried it on.

I tried the Chisco band but didn't fit that well for me. You can try it
and return it if you don't like it. I just wear the gw5600 on the original
resin bands and haven't found a good alternative.

Ah yes, I see - that would be a problem.

Isn't the antenna for the atomic clock in the band?

Yep, the metal part right above the "G-Shock" . Sorry for the fuzzy pic .

Actually that metal piece is part of the watch, not the band

That is, if it's like my GW-300 which I swapped to a Band yesterday...

my point about the band on 5600 is that if you remove it you would be removing the antenna to my knowledge... so you would have the band of your choice, but the watch probably couldn't recieve updates from the atomic clock

    Hi RWare,

There are GW-5600 models witha resin watchband, so the antenna is inside the case. The early Waveceptors (those with the enormous antenna on top) had metal watchband to amplify the signal, but I believe the antenna's are much improved (see G-Shock Official Book page 061). Therefore I think it is no problem to other different watchbands. Those "the Bands" are pretty funky. Why don't they have a closure loop as a secundary security like those single Velcro G-Shock watchbands?

    Cheers,

    Sjors

    Re: GW-5600j band options

Strap adapters can be made to work on a GW-5600, but some modification of the top lug strap adapter is required. It also isn't exactly pretty when done, as the top lug leaves a noticeable gap afterward, and there is excess movement of the adapter.

The antenna is a non-issue on this model.

The only strap option I have seen is the hybrid resin/metal bracelet on the GW-5600BCJ-1JF “Black Force”. I have not seen this bracelet available separately.
