    GW-9200 Receving Calibration Signal

    Hi all!

I bought Casio G-Shock GW-9200 just few days ago and I really like it already :)

I live in Los Angeles and I cannot make it to get Calibration Signal since I got this watch - 4 days.
When I tried do it manually it show signal level on "L1" - quite weak and after like 1 minute I see "ERR" message.
The same situation is when he is trying do automatically after midnight.

Last time when he got Calibration Signal was 1-5-2009
I don't know what to do, send this watch back or not?
Everything works fine accept I cannot use this one function.

    PS: The watch is cool

Hi Matosh. My theory with a lot of the Atomic watches is that they sync better when placed face down with the top of the face pointed towards the window, rather than as the manual suggests lying on its side or upright. Try it.

PS I've assumed your home city is set correctly, so set that first if it isn't!

It seems that I have heard that in parts of California people have a terrible time getting their atomics to sync. Read up here and you should get a better feel for how it works and what to do.

Also, out of all of my automics, my 9200 has the hardest time with its signal calibration.

Yes, my city is as LAX.

I have tried put it on two different windows, hmmm does signal level L1 is enough to get calibrated?

It should be, but the chances of it failing are much higher if it's only showing L1. Are you able to get it to ever show L2 or L3 by say, holding the watch up high or outside the house even?

I'm in the UK so have no experience of your location. I just know that my Riseman has trouble syncing unless I put it face down, then it works every time

Matosh, here is what works for me:

    1. Forget about manual sync. Don't use it.

    2. After the watch arrives, I try to make sure the watch gets as much natural light as possible for the first week so the solar battery is fully charged. The battery gauge is imprecise. (Imagine if your speedometer only had three settings in order to gauge speed.)

    3. At night, I do exactly what the instructions say to do for automatic nightly sync.

    4. Sometimes it takes up to a week for the signal reception to "kick in" so be patient.

No, never stronger than L1, even outside of the house.
When I'm in a office on 22 floor in Downtown LA it still shows L1 level.
