    GW-M530A-1CR

Hey Everyone. I just received a GW-M530A-1CR. Not sure how I feel about it. Anyone else have one (or a GW-M500A-1); any thoughts about it? I like the way it looks (although it has quite a different look than all other G-shocks of which I know), but it seems to wear a little strange. I think it actually has a large "pin to pin" distance; at least it is greater than my G9000 Mudman. The band has a very nice (or at least interesting) texture on it and has the little nib at the end of the strap to help stop the "keeper" from sliding off. The strap is stiff, but I have heard that it does soften up. Love the solar/atomic capability. I'm just a little surprised at the girth "lug to lug." Not sure if I'm going to keep it. It sure is sleek looking, though. Thanks.

I have few in that family and love them. Think of it as a pair of jeans, needs time to break in and become a favorite.

I had it for a couple of years. Compared to squares, it does sit strangely high on wrist and strap is much stiffer. Mine never really softened to be as comfy as square strap. I liked it mainly for the large digits.

Yes, I too like the large digits. I am slowly getting use to it; I am starting to think I will keep it. And yes, I noticed too that it sits high(?); I do love the sleekness though.

I dont have one, but I’m a big fan of its ability to show the world time, with a city label, in small size alongside the larger main time, with a nice intuitive readout:

    Press B to switch 🙂

Thanks for the feedback on the large lug-to-lug. I might have to try one of these out in person before committing; have skinny wrists. I do love the thought of those big main digits though 👍👍

I picked one of these up 2 weeks ago from my local watch shop for $25 in decent shape. When I got home and cleaned it up it got water inside. I took it back to him and he said if he can't fix it I can use the $25 towards something else. Must have had a bad o ring or someone opened it up before. For the short time I had it I don't think it was real comfy but I planned on letting my kids use it as a beater.

Just occurred to me, if comfort is an issue and you don’t mind sacrificing the Multiband 6 and Solar, get a G-2900! Similar design language, super readable display with excellent LCD contrast and large digits, and super comfortable. About $40 shipped, less if wait for a good deal on eBay.

(Solar charging is great, but the G-2900 has a ten year battery life so you’re fine for quite a while.)

This is on my 6.5” wrist.

    Re: GW-M530A-1CR

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Two things I can report: 1.) it has broken in a bit already and IS more comfortable than when I first started wearing it. The strap is quite stiff at first and 'flairs out' because of that, but they do break in rather quickly. That helps with the fit, of coarse. 2.) I am definitely keeping it. It does have some amazing features and it is incredibly "slick/sleek/contoured" for a g-shock, which I appreciate.

I like the power saving mode, and the dual time display on the same screen (as has been mentioned by zack20cb); also, the Auto EL function turns off during the day (or anytime there is strong light.) These are all pretty nice features. This watch picks up its nightly signal with no problem; I place it on the window sill as instructed. It came fully charged, and is staying that way. Be aware however, if you really like the "chunkiness" or hard lines of some g-shocks, you may be disappointed by this watch; it does not have that kind of presence at all. (It is still thick in its height, though, just as a number of Gs are.)

One other interesting feature of this particular model is the texture on the outside of the strap. The only other g-shocks of which I am aware that have this feature are some of the MT-Gs and MR-Gs. Just noting.

Thanks again, everyone. If you are sitting on the fence about this model, go for it; I don't think you will be disappointed.
