Picture GW-M5600A-9 "Yellowjacket" mod (pic heavy)

Step 1. Acquire GW-M5600A-9 from eBay for $50 (meaning: GET REALLY LUCKY!!!!)
Step 2. Acquire spare strap and extenders from DW-5600EB

Step 3. Disassemble and clean GW-M5600A-9. I prefer dish soap with OxiClean and a soft toothbrush

Step 4. Attach extenders to GW-M5600A-9 case

Step 5. Paint in G logo on DW-5600EB strap. I had to combine Testors yellow, neon yellow and white to get the color to match. The same method for painting bezel lettering will work here

Step 6. Combine the GW-M5600A-9 case, bezel and keeper with the DW-5600EB strap and extenders for my 1st attempt at a mod. Meh... I like it :-P

Looks great. You did a really good job of matching the paint colors, and great find on a $50 GW5600!

Cheers friend! Getting a deal that good is simply luck but I'll take some luck any day, lol. The color match was really the only difficult part as everything else came apart/went together rather easily. Painting an indent as deep as the G on these straps takes a few coats, unlike the bezel lettering, but it was really no trouble. The entire mod took less than 1 hour if you don't count drying time.

I actually do not disagree with that. But after wearing it in original trim for a day I realized how bad the bright yellow looked against my rather pale wrist. I knew I had the old black strap leftover from the restoration of my DW-5600EB and I had never tried a mod before so I figured I'd see what it looked like. The black breaks up the yellow just enough for it to pass on my skin. Plus I have a LOT of history with that strap so I am glad it is back in service, so to speak

I'd post a wrist shot but I don't have a passable camera with me today
