    GW7900 stealth mod

Inspired by an old post https://forums.watchuseek.com/f17/ste...th-577692.html , I decided to do a stealth mod for my GW7900.

For the bezel mod, I got a regular g7900 bezel and 4 black g7900 tabs from pacparts. I decided to keep the original gw7900 bezel with the metal tabs safe and untouched in case I want to switch back to original configuration and, to be honest, in case I mess up. I used non-acetone nail polish remover to remove all the paint from the new g7900 bezel, then to add some texture, I used flat black acrylic spray paint and lightly sprayed the top from a distance.

I really liked the wings for its comfort but I when I took them off and tried the watch on during the mod and realized it was just as comfortable without, so I decided to take the wings off to "streamline" the shape. I think the result is pretty good, however, because the original screws holding the wings down was slightly longer, the head would have stuck out about a millimeter or so. Good thing I just happened to have some spare backplate screws from the case of a donor beat-up luminox (it's guts and innards have long been transplanted to other projects). Those were spray painted black and fitted perfectly!

    What do you all think?

Thanks and Kudos to ebShock and everyone for putting up the original stealth mod post and for their inputs/comments!!

Pretty good, I guess that removing the wings will make it feel like you are wearing a 6900, will you leave light the button "as is" ?

    Congratulations

The GW-7900 looks so much better with the black rivets, it's amazing how such a small detail can change the whole appearance! Enjoy you stealth watch.

    cheers

I am thinking changing the G to a darker version but yet to be able to source a replacement button... I think dark grey will be nice. Suggestions welcomed!

Yes in fact without the wings, it almost feels like my 5600J or the 6900... I guess I am lucky enough that my wrist size allows the removal of the wings without making it uncomfortable.

Thanks! I like the black rivets also... it blends in better and also it sits lower so slims the watch down a notch.

Looks good just don't try to remove the"paint" from the light button, its not paint at all, best to just paint over it

I am actually planning to get a replacement button to change out so I can keep the "original parts" as is... however finding one (or at least finding one in stock) is the hard part.

The black acrylic paint texturing was actually a result learned from an earlier project when I was coating the metal holders on the strap for the my Pathfinder PAW1300.

Shouldn't be hard to get really. In the UK, you just need to phone up Casio parts & order one, you'll get it within 10 days. I'm guessing in the USA you just need to call the official Casio parts distributor? You do need to paint out that grey 'G' though, it's awfully bright on a stealthed watch!
