    GWM5610-1CR Bracelet Swap

Finally got around to swapping out the strap for a combi bracelet on the GWM5610-1CR today. What a PITA!
This is a job that definitely justifies the purchase of double-ended spring bar pliers. I will put those on my shopping list.

Took me a little over an hour, most of which was spent swearing. Buggered up the end of one of the spring bars, but luckily had spares on hand.

Final results are so worth it though!

    Re: GWM5610-1CR Bracelet Swap

In case anyone is wondering about the bracelet weight:

    Bracelet only: 63.88g
    GWM5610: 48.35g
GWM5610 with bracelet (all links installed): 98.08g
    GWM5610 with bracelet, 3 links removed: 87.51g

So strap works out to 14.15g, and watch head only to 34.20g.

    Nice mod!

Had the same mod some years ago.

It really makes the 5610 much more dressy!

    Re: GWM5610-1CR Bracelet Swap

The only problem i know about the combi bracelet is that you have to use another pair, smaller in diameter, of spring bars if you bought the bracelet separate from the watch.. Its lug holes are bit smaller than the diameter of the stock spring bar of the 5610-1.. It needs a little space for mobility for the springbar since the the bracelet's lug end is stiff and its really hard to squeeze in one end of the springbar in first and follow the other end using the narrowest flatscrewhead in my precission tool set to push it in, coz its the only tool allowed by the bracelet lug to hold the end of the springbar down for me to push it in place. If you use bigger flathead, you cannot hold the springbar down when pushing it in place, there is a part of the bracelet that blocks it thus damaging the surface around the lugs with the springbar end.
It really is frustrating the first time. But when you get to know the technique, everything is a breeze and no need for that spring bar tool.

Absolutely right, and an often overlooked detail.

The correct springbars for the bracelet are, indeed, smaller in diameter than the correct springbars for the PU strap.

If you use the springbars from the PU strap on the bracelet, your first clue something might be awry is if the sprinbars fit tightly into the ends of the bracelet.

With the slightly smaller in diameter correct springbars for the bracelt, fitting the bracelt to the watch is quite easy.

I did end up using smaller spring bars. I managed to get one side in using the original from the strap, but ended up swapping both for smaller diameter bars.
If I had the spring bar pliers, I don't think I would have had any problems reusing the originals.

I can appreciate the frustration you experienced installing your combi bracelet. Your diligence paid off and you have an outstanding mod. Hint: When I installed my combi bracelet on my GW5000-1JF, I found it easier to remove the entire bezel from my watch. This gave more wiggle room to maneuver the combi endlinks into the GW5000-1JF lug holes.

Seems like 'whateverworks' works..i didnt have to remove bezel on mine though.. But i have to use the narrowest flathead to push the springbar back and not get blocked by the ledge just above the hole of the lug holes of the composite bracelet. I didnt have problem looking for the right springbar for my bracelet because i acquired it from gw6900bc which i sold with generic 6900 band. Gave away my original springbars with it and kept the bracelet compatible springbars. Everybody happy.
