    The GLX-5600 series, I think.

I have the red GLX-5600-4, there is a "A.EL" logo which means it's auto EL. My DW-5030C-1JR, did state that it is "illuminator", but it lights up exactly the same way. Correct me if I'm wrong, 5600s and 5000s uses EL backlight technology, which lights up evenly isn't it? It's not as bright, but you can definitely see. The GA-110s GA-100s etc can only use regular LED for light because it's basically analog dial. The main dial is not LCD, so definitely no EL, and making it super LED on an analog dial is just probably gona hurt the eyes of the user with the uneven projection of light on the uneven '3D' surface of analog dials, and also deplete the battery like no tomorrow. Gs like GD-100s uses what Casio called the "super illuminator", super LED, that's why they are so friggin bright. If I'm wrong, I hope to learn the correct stuff!

The only exception im aware of is the GB-5600 which features LED backlight.

oh yeah, I just did a google search and yeah, that is definitely not EL. Definitely looks like an LED. For a comparison, I'll put here:

    GB-5600 (LED: super bright):

    Name: 2r3ijrp.jpg
Views: 891
Size: 83.3 KB

DW-5030C (EL: distinctive duller, green light):

    Name: G-Shock-DW-5030C-1JR_6.jpg
Views: 1176
Size: 104.8 KB

Thanks d2mac! At least now I can post a very clear comparison. But then again now I'm abit confused. Why call the DW-5030C "illuminator" when it is EL? And when "super illuminator" means super LED?? So DW-5030C is not EL, it's actually LED??

    Someone..??

Dont care, Casio calls everything else then light bulb Illuminator.
    Marketing.....

Since the 5030 uses the module from the 5600E it will for shure also share the electroluminisence panel.
