    Have I lost my money?

Here's a thing...just sold my Antman on Ebay, got the payment through and transferred it to my bank account. Now got mail from Paypal saying that the payment was unauthorised (I assume they mean the money that I got from the buyer, not my own transfer from paypal to my bank account)so they have now given my account a negative balance. Anyone know how I stand...surely they have made the mistake, or is there some small print somewhere that means I am still liable for the loss?

    thanks for any comments, Dave

Good question, perhaps they will investigate and I won't be liable. But for now I am in limbo and £180 out of pocket.

I don't have much information just now but you guys should take note in case you ever have the same experience.

I do suspect the worst however and may just have to put this down to experience....

Re: Have I losy my money?

i say you have losed your moneyheres why
my wife bought a louie vautton hand bag of ebay
    we paid thru paypal
but the funds came from our bank account
they didnt come from our credit card or funds that are sitting in the paypal account- just staraight out of our bank account and they need to clear those funds with the bank first.
she finds out the bag is fake
lucky we bought it here in our own state.
she stops the funds and they are pulled from the sellers account.
the funds are put back in our account about 2 days later.
because the funds came from a bank account and need to clear with the bank and with paypal
if they havent cleared and are in limbo you can reverse your sale and get your money back.

Argh, no, surely not, you have more rights than that.

For a start paypal/bank should provide an answer.

Link/User ID of high bidder? Is that allowed?!?

This is another reason why I think if I decide to part with any watches I will offer privately to the WUS family first...

not if the money is still in limbo
paypal says it in the sellers account the seller can see it but cant use it. and when all is well with the bank ,the funds are coming from -only if it is a bank account not a credit card
a credit card payment thru paypal is instant
paypal works on the rights that the buyer is always right
so if you sold something thru paypal make sure the money is there before sending
keep checking your paypal account to double check

    Paypalsucks.com

    Thousands of cases like yours.

Paypal is the only reason I gave up selling on ebay.

Have personally lost thousands to paypal !!

You could stop accepting Paypal, but then, who would bid on your auctions, its a catch22

Guys, if you sell something using Paypal, make sure you withdraw all your money BEFORE you ship the item. And be prepared to have your account frozen if the buyer used a fraudulent credit card.

    Cheers

Re: Have I losy my money?

so beginning from "when" is the money in my paypal account is officically "mine"?

also, paypal doesn't require investigation before reversing a charge?

what if the money is already in the "process" of transferring to my bank account from paypal?

so as a buyer, using bank account is always safer than using credit card?

Re: Have I losy my money?

if the money is in transet from your account to paypal and you reverse it paypal holds it for a day or 2 then refunds it back to your bank account
and i say that using your bank account would be safer
the money it yours when it has cleared thru the bank and is in paypal but if the buyer puts a dispute in and the money is in your paypal account paypal will freeze those funds until the buyer closes the dispute or ups it to a claim.
    so seller beware
