Like most owners we inspect our new watches, sometimes with a microscope. Reading up on G Shocks it's been mentioned there are characters printed on obscure places on the dial which may or may not have meaning - there they are, if we but look.
Out comes my pocket flashlight, I'm nearly 20/400 so I don't really need a magnifier, and I go looking. Around the dial, the markers (its a GAX 100B) and then
The negative display shows an interesting phenomenon - Tends to shimmer at certain angles - you can see the refresh rate as a slight irridescence. There's a light vibrating rainbow affect.
I was using an LED in the white range, about 40 lumens which isn't super bright (enormous compared to ten years ago) and it may be contributing in some way. Don't know.
