Help my pick my first G! 8900 or 5600?

I've got a citizen eco-drive that has atomic time so now... I need a casual watch with atomic time because god forbid my watches do not show the same time! lol.

    I'm interested in either the GWX8900 http://amzn.com/B00KITMWWW or the GWX5600 http://amzn.com/B00BT3D4AA.

I'm not interested in a "boring" black watch so I guess I'll have to deal with the discoloration over time and clean the resin/bezel.

Are there any pros and cons compared to the two models? It seems like replacement resin/bezels are slightly cheaper and easier to find for the 8900.

    Thanks!

    Hello,
I personally like the 5600 more, it has a more mature look, for me the 8900 looks a bit childish. Only a bit.
As regarding discoloration, or changing parts, you won't need to, these watches are tough.
My father has a 15-20 year G-shock that is in great shape and has no problems whatsoever with it. In time if an accident happens, maybe you'll need a new strap, if that.
Also the links you posted don't work.
What is your budget? Maybe you can find another appealing model, but from those I think the 5600 is the best choice.

    Cheers!

One thing to consider is that there's a very big size difference between the two. If you have a smaller wrist then I'd do with the 5600, but on a larger wrist the 8900 may suit you better.

If either of those were true, we wouldn't have dozens of threads about "how do I clean my white or light-colored G-Shock?" ( https://www.google.com/search?q=site...cleaning+white ) or "where do I buy replacement parts for my G-Shock?" ( https://www.google.com/search?q=site...ordering+parts ).

The first question seems to come up here about once every two months (especially when summer rolls around), the second question comes up at least once a week. White G's can become discolored and yellow from sweat and body oils, pick up "dye transfers" from clothing (especially dark denim) and all sorts of other things.

I'm going to guess that your father's G-Shock probably has black resin, which won't show stains, so it probably DOES look great!

Probably because he didn't post links, he posted URL's. Try Amazon.com: G-Shock GWX8900 Glide with Tide Graph Classic Series Watch - Neon Green/Black/Green Accents / One Size: Casio: Watches and http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BT3D4AA/ref=cm_sw_su_dp -- one is a light-colored G, one is a white G.

I am a huge Square fan but having seen the GWX-5600C-7 in person I passed. Nordstrom Rack in my city has lots of both white and red for $75 all day long. The negative lcd is incredibly poor. Granted, outside it rocks and is very legible, but inside in a regular lit room, good luck. And to those out there who say "Just use Auto EL", well even in some situations it will not help. IMO if you like the look of it but want a usable watch, track down a GRX-5600 or just order the GWX-5600-1JF from Japan like I and others here did. You will not be disappointed. you can always change the resin to white if you want.

Not the camera. It actually has yellow, orange, pink, orange, and blue on the bezel and strap.

I wasn't actually TRYING to be funny -- and now upon closer examination it seems to be one more issue with the goofy forum software that acts differently whether we're logged in or not! (Up until now, I've mostly noticed it as "front page or index shows Zzzzzz replied to a certain thread 30 minutes ago, but if I go to the thread, I last see where Xxxxxx replied three hours ago. If I log in, there are TWO seemingly new posts: one from Yyyyy an hour ago and there's Zzzzzz's post 30 minutes ago." )

So back to the original post: if I'm not logged in, those ARE actual links in the original post in this thread. When I log in, THEN they appear simply as URL's with no hyperlink.
