Question Help A Rookie Select The Perfect G-Shock

"Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It...."

I just found this forum, and I am glad I did. About one year ago, I bought my first G-Shock. This is the model that I bought:

    http://www.casio.com/products/Timepi...k/MTG910DA-1V/

I like the model I bought. I assume many here may have the same model. I don't know.

I want to buy a second G-Shock, but it seems that Casio does an unimpressive job of providing clear and comprehensive information about the current models they manufacture. Every source of information from Casio that I have found either does not clearly distinguish their various G-Shock models or does not comprehensively cover all current G-Shock models they manufacture or both.

So I turn to you, the seasoned veterans of WUS. Can you help me select the perfect G-Shock model that I am looking for?

Here is what I need from my second G-Shock:

    1. atomic timekeeping

    2. solar power

    3. water resistant

    4. shock resistant

    5. made entirely or almost entirely of steel (not resin) including the band

    6. almost entirely monochromatic black in color.

    7. the face can be digital, analog o ana-digi

    8. the face must have a black background

I have reviewed the G-Shock models at http://www.gshock.com/ and I did not find any model that met my specifications.

Does Casio currently manufacture a G-Shock model that meets my specifications?:thanks

Re: Help A Rookie Select The Perfect G-Shock

    Thanks!

I saw the GS1000D-1A at http://www.gshock.com/products/g-shock_atomic_solar/ but there is no info or pricing provided there for that particular model so I thought maybe that model was no longer being manufactured by Casio.

Compared to the GS1000D-1A, I like the look of the GW-700BTJ-1JF much better anyway. I did not see the GW-700BTJ-1JF at http://www.gshock.com/products/g-shock_atomic_solar/ so I will plug the model number into Google and see what I can find out about it.

    Thanks again.

Evel, just a bit of advice. You won't find a model reference for every model at one standard G-shock factory site. You stand a much better chance finding it via google.

Yeah, I've noticed! That's what I was alluding to in my initial post. It seems strange that Casio does not maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive web site that features all of the G-Shock models that they currently manufacture. Oh well.

At any rate, the GW-700BTJ-1JF is a good suggestion. I'm trying to find an internet retailer (preferably with a web site in English) that sells the GW-700BTJ-1JF.

    Thanks again.

The easiest way for you to find the GW-700BTJ is via Yahoo Japan auctions. You'll need to register with a bidding broker to actually bid/win an auction though. Expect to pay 30%-40% more than the winning bid in fees though.

I like the GW-700 model too...

Possibly because their sites are regional, and not all models are supplied to all regions.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

Yeah, I guess it's more difficult than I anticipated.

They have five of the GW-700BTJ-1JF in stock at Amazon Japan, but there is some sort of problem.

Amazon Japan also has the GS-1000BJ-1AJF which is an all-black version of the other model you displayed in your first reply.

It seems like a potential problem with the Yahoo Auctions option you mention may be the possibility of counterfeit merchandise.
