Can someone explain two things to me? The numbering doesn't make sense to me.

    1. Why do the DW-5600s look more like G-5600s? They look too square.

    2. What is the significance of the 5500s being DW and when was the last time they were made? I thought they were only GLS, G, and GW in recent memory.

EDIT: After doing some searching it looks like the 5600s are Baby-Gs? I thought they always had the 'Baby' branding.

The three squares with the bullbars in the second row are not baby G's. They are full size square G-shocks.

Last time a 5500 was a DW (non-solar, standard lithium battery) was the original 1985 model, I believe. But unlike that one, this is probably not a screwback.

Thanks for the clarification. I saw a catalogue from a few weeks ago that strangely listed the 5600s in a section labelled "G-Shock: Baby-Gs".

They don't look like DWs though, are they G models? Or something new? Though it may just be my eyes deceiving me.

EDIT: Here is the page that confused me:

I also want the new D5500.. I love what they have done with it, done away with the solar/atomic stuff and stuck a 10year battery in it, I wish Casio would just stick a 10yr battery in everything! lol

they are DW's, (not solar or atomic), but it's a whole new module, you can tell by the day of the week being three letters. thats why there is a "D" before the 5600

Well, next month just got expensive for me. I think I'll pick up one each of the 5500 and new 5600. I have been wanting a 5500 for some time now but I have not been completely happy with the GW-5510.

They are not babies. Look at the dimensions: full size squares. I am not going to get any of these, but I like the direction Casio is going with some of these. Others, like the pink ProTrek, have me scratching my head

I wonder if the new DW-D5600P squares take DW-5600E resin, and if they are meant to replace the DW-5600E?

That will probably be the deciding factor for me. I like having parts compatibility for spares.

I am hoping that success with these will lead to more colour variations.
