Welcome back Jeff. Your trip sounds like a lot of fun. I would love to do something like that.

Sadly, I've never even been to a beach

It's great to have you back, Jeff.

Post more about your impressions if possible.

And I wouldn't like to type the cliche, but you know something is missing in this thread, don't you?

Re: Hi gang... jsut got in from my dive trip!

I dont even think I got any pictures... certainly none from the water. :(

I wore my Seiko SKX 173. It was my first dive watch... my first "real" watch and it made sense to go on my first dives!

We wen to Panama City Beach Florida. Not the diving capital of the world, but decent enough with lots of wrecks and structured to dive on. We ended up going deeper than we should but, such is life. We were well within safety allowances but a little deep for first time divers. We were on the most shallow structures they had! :)

We dove an old wrecked barge, an experimental hover craft, a demolished bridge span, and a weird Air Force observation tower that was destroyed as radar advances made it unnecessary.

Our first day of diving had warm water and pretty good visibility. But things got a little colder, rainy-er and the visibility dropped to 6-10 feet on the 4th dive! That was kind of spooky but do-able!

I saw lots of amberjacks. My favorite site was one time I rolled onto m back to watch my bubbles and saw a school of jacks racing around at about 30 feet. With the sun behind them it was a beautiful sight! I also got to see a 7 foot Goliath Grouper! MAN it was kind of freaky to be in HIS environment!!! He was HUGE!! I saw star fish, and urchins and all kinds of cool critters!

The only down side was that my wife couldnt dive. She developed ear aches through our class and then found out one ear (and maybe both) were infected. So it was best for her to not dive. But she will get checked out in about a month in a qualifying quarry here in Georgia.

In all it was incredible. I cant wait to go somewhere where the visibility is really good. I would love to go to Belieze or maybe Bonaire. I was amazed at how comfortable I was! Good training I guess!

I can "see" the image when you turned and looked up, Jeff. It must have been awesome.

Sorry about your wife's problems. I hope she gets well soon.

You wore a classic Seiko. I hope in the future you'll dive with a G-Shock too.

Many congrats again, Jeff. And yes, I think you'll need an underwater camera for your future dives. Sadly, memory is not as good as film.
