How can you tell if it has a screwback?

I have yet to see a screwback in person, but it seems like some 5600's have them. Some (all?) Frogs, anything else? Don't know if it's easier to memorize or is there a way to tell when you are looking at one online?
As always thanks for the help!

It's quite easy to tell the difference when looking at one.

    Here is the screwback (DW-5000):

And here is the non-screwback case of DW-5600E:

As you can see, there are four screws holding the back in the non-screwback watch and besides that the backplate itself is much thinner. Also, when looking closely, you will notice that in DW-5000 screwback is screwed into the metal case, and in DW-5600E back is attached to resin case.

And yes, all Frogs have screwbacks.

Here is the list of screwback G's (I'm not sure though if this is complete list):

Watch back is obvious to figure but the display is not piece of cake unless you study them.

Good thread to read, thanks bughammer for show and tell:

Ok thanks. Now, what are the advantages to a screwback?

Re: How can you tell if it has a screwback?

There have actually been quite a number of G-Shock models with screw casebacks. The first G-Shocks had them, but then later CASIO changed to the 4 screw caseback design. Why? Because it is cheaper to manufacture, while at the same time it achieves the desired water resistance. CASIO did repeat the screwback cases on a few subsequent "standard" models (such as the GL-110 and G-2000) after the 4 screw caseback had started being used, as well as the top-of-the-line MR-G models at that time. And then of course CASIO includes them on the Frogman, special releases of classic designs (like the 5600), the GIEZ models, and a number of MR-G models. But for the most part the screw caseback is used in a small minority of G-Shock watches.

The disadvantage to the watch maker is the added manufacturing costs involved. There are several advantages for the owner: cleaner look/design of the back, at battery change no little screws to get lost or strip the threading, a stainless steel (or titanium) casing--more rugged than hard resin, and more "complete" water resistance. The obvious disadvantage to the owner is that you can't simply change the battery with a small screwdriver. You need a special wrench tool to remove the screw caseback. It's actually not very expensive to obtain and using it is fairly easy once you know what to do.

Regarding water resistance, I would always take a screwback casing over any other. While the 4 screw caseback will work well and survive to the rated depth (on a G-Shock), the gaskets are more prone to failure due to minor mistakes in refitting the caseback. The screw caseback always has a circular gasket that is easier to keep in place. Even if the gasket fails, the tight threading of the screw back provides some measure of protection, whereas the design with 4 screws would allow water in at the slightest break/bend of the gasket.

Thank you thank you thank you. When i'm looking at ebay stores i'm trying to "see" if it's a screwback. You can imagine the difficulties there.
