How long will the battery last with Auto EL

Just wondering how long on average will the battery last on our Gshocks if we leave auto EL on.

I noticed with my PRG240 tough Solar, if I leave AEL on, with accidental movements of my arm, the battery gauge will drop from H to M in a few days so I just leave it off.

However with conventional gshocks without battery meter, we won't be able to tell.

So have any of you guys with gshocks with battery leave AEL on?

It's a very useful feature especially with my G9000MS reverse display mudman but I'm afraid it will drain the battery faster.

    What do you think?

PS: Please also post the watch model you have and if it is tough solar or regular battery so we'll have an idea. :) Because with the G9000 with regular battery, Auto EL will stay only for 6 hours then it auto off the function which is great since I think most non solar (if not all) Gshocks don't have a light sensor that will not allow illumination when there is enough light.

Don't rightly know, but I guess I'll find out cause I work through out the night and it's always on.

On my Riseman the EL duration is limited to 1 sec so I guess that the EL may drain the battery more than we could think...

Nonetheless I always have the EL on.

Have no issues with the solar models, but will let you know in a couple of years time for my non-solar models.

Wow, the 7900 has a 1 1/2 and 3 second setting. I've got mine set to stay on for three! I wish I could set it for a longer duration, so I don't have to keep fliping my wrist a half dozen times. Why so many times? Cause I like looking at the blue light....

Get a G-7900 and you can set the EL for 5 seconds, you also get an even better module.

To me it's one of those features that is neat but not really needed. I rarely use the backlight with the button as it is.

5 sec. is too long for most of us, but the possibility to set the EL to 1, 3 & 5 sec. should be pratical.

you have the option as well with the g9000. you can set the light to stay for 3 or 5 seconds. 3 is enough for me though as 5 seconds might consume too much battery imho
