Or cares enough to show it if they do! I was hesitant when I saw the photos but I like Mudmans so I went in for it. I like it a lot better in person. :-! The reasons I like it:
The time's actually more readable than the G9000
You get solar and atomic timekeeping
You get the same sweet form factor (look) of the Mudman
Oh - a couple notes. The manual is all Japanese so I couldn't read it. When I manually sync'd the time the "G" logo did not appear in the top center area. Last night after it automatically sync'd the "G" logo came on.
I don't have much of an opinion about the red ring around the bezel and under the plastic, but I do wish it had the black G9000's red right-side buttons.

sorry to disagree, but in my opinion its a total loser!!!
the look is - lets put it diplomatic - rather exotic.
personally - and not diplomatic :-d - I find this watch is butt ugly and I would only take one as a gift, just to put it right away on ebay, or - depending what mood I'm in - right away into the garbage can.
this watch got nothing special, it doesn't even show current time in stopwatch mode (so I read). I don't know why anyone on earth would want one, when he/she can have a riseman (or a gulfman for that matter), that does everything better, has more functions and - most important - looks outstanding good compared to this......thing
No offense to anybody, but since when did this friendly community site become one where we bash another member's new purchase? Someone feels good about what they just bought, takes time to take some photos and post them up, give a review of their thoughts, only to have someone degrade and minimize that? That's not keeping within the spirit here that I've become used to, and IMHO completely unnecessary :-|
I understand we have our opinions, but my mother told me when I was a kid, if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all :rodekaart
whats the problem fellas? I didn't bash anything - neither mickeymoto, nor his purchase. I just say what i think about this watch which is to me the biggest aberration (aka ugly) since the old riseman (you are free to hate me for that if you like :-d ). I can't see why someone can't express negative feelings about a specific model, only for the sake of being "mr. nice guy".
again, this is NOT a personal attack on mickeymotto (why even should I?), I apologize if this came across that way, but we are here for discussion - and the weather isn't nice and sunny every day either - so I certainly will NOT apologize for my opinion about that watch.
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying opinions are unwelcome, and I'm definitely not saying to not express them. I'm just simply saying there are better ways to express them.
Someone once told me (I am full of quotes today, eh?) Don't piss all over my back and tell me it's raining.
I posted my photos and review of the Riseman, and some people didn't like it, and said they didn't like it, and said why they didn't like it. I wasn't offended or insulted in any way. THAT'S not what my post was about. It's expressing your opinion in a respectful way.
I'll say it again....Someone pays $100-$150 for their watch. They wait patiently for it to arrive excited, feeling good about it. They take their time to take some nice photos, upload them to the site and post their review of that watch.
They go into that thread later on to see not negative reviews...but unnecessary insults (paraphrasing here): That watch is a piece of garbage. Wow did you waste YOUR money, I wouldn't line my trashcan with that piece. etc, etc.
I don't say don't express your opinion, but is there something wrong with being a little more respectful about it?

Personally, if someone elses opinion could make me concerned about a watch or spoil the pleasure of it, it's not a watch I'd have bought. Well, there's always an exception of course, like when I bought TWO G-3010's which were selling cheap at the time. The didn't go down very well with most people here, but I quickly realised they really were flipping awful looking. :-d
Other than that though, the only thing that would spoil my enjoyment of any of my watches is if I was told there was a serious problem with the model, like with a few of the solars.
For mikeymoto, I have to confess the look of this watch really isn't for me, but you obviously like it or you wouldn't have bought it, and beyond the looks is a fine atomic/solar Mudman. :-!
For all those guys disappointed with the look of the 9010.
There is another 6-band G having almost the same specs and a total different design, the GW-M850.
I don't know why people think it looks so bad. The black with red looks a little plain compared to the orange one. I like it as it's got the protection of the Mudman with atomic/solar and is missing all the eyes of the earlier atomic/solar. I may end up getting the orange but have several other watches to move on to new owners first.
In my opinion the orange one would look even better had the bezel been orange not just the band and bezel highlights.
It's a watch that inspires strong opinions. The first publicity photos appeared on a Polish forum, and when one of our Polish members posted them here, there was widespread disbelief that it could be real.
Personally, I find the design, um... perplexing. Of all the watches I see on forums, I can probably find fault with most of them, to a lesser or greater extent. If the owner is clearly proud of them, I'll probably say nothing.
On occasions I will say something. If it's a new model, and the subject of general discussion, I think it's perfectly OK to say what you think about it. It's a forum, after all.
If a member is clearly proud of a new acquisition, I might bite my tongue for fear of causing offence.
If a member says 'What do you think?', I feel perfectly entitled to be critical.
I would also respond to different members with different degrees of candour. If I felt I knew a member well enough to know that they were unlikely to be personally offended, I might say things I wouldn't say to someone else.
There's a thin line between honest and gratuitous criticism, so I think we should be careful and respectful. On the other hand, there are few threads more vacuous than those starting with a picture of someone's new watch, followed by a dozen declarations of 'Awesome!'.
We just have to be sensitive to what effect our words might have on the poster, but we shouldn't be censoring ourselves either.

I've never come to grips with either the looks or the module of the GW-9010. I do like the comfort of the Mudman platform though, and the honeycomb effect on the dial of this Mudman is pretty cool.
I like it. I am contemplating the non-atomic version myself, only because the display is slightly more symmetrical. Tough call, though, not having seen either in person.
I also really like the prominent time display with day/date visible, but secondary. I think the layout is very well done.
Funny...I actually quite like the new mudman as well, and I think it looks more "purposeful" than the other mudmans. The only thing I think they could've done better is to raise the top of the display a bit more so the "G" square isn't so close to the time. But other than that, I think it loos great! Anyhow, anything that causes such strong opinions in a design can't be that bad I say. I'll bet in a few years time this will end up being a "classic" mudman to be collectedb-)b-).
If a person posts a thread asking for opinons or advice about a watch, I do believe it is important to be honest with your opinion. If a person posts a thread sharing their newest acquisition, an item they are very excited about, I would in no way rain on their parade. My interpretation of this thread was someone who bought a new watch that they like very much and wanted to share his excitement. I personally don't see any reason to answer this thread with negative comments. If he were asking for my opinion, and I happened to not like the watch, I would probably share my thoughts in a diplomatic way. I am not in favor of censorship, but I do tend to favor diplomacy. This is merely my view on how to respond and I realize my way isn't the right way for everyone.
Oh for goodness sakes, wear the watch in good health Mickey moto.
From what I gather, most members here have wives, girl friends or family members who disapprove of their G shock habits already, yet alone wearing them. Does that stop any of these members from buying that G he or even she craves. In fact I am told specifically not to wear a particular G shock, when going out with family!!! But I still like that G shock so much.
So now for the GW9010, who knows perhaps you enjoy WRC or are into car rallying, why not enjoy the G as well. If all G shocks were the same, only 5600 members would be in here today waiting excitedly for decades for anniversary reissues.
I like the solar power, the atomic time, the dial, the display, and black color.
The only thing I don't like about the watch is it's alittle too big to be comfortable for me and the Mudman also has raised rubber backs which looks uncomfortable to me also.
But, overall it's still a G-Shock, solar powered, atomic time, water resistant, shock resistant, and has a EL back light. So, it's still a great watch.
The rubber nubs bother some and not others. I remember that someone filed the nubs on their Mudman off and said it feels great now. Me, I don't even notice them ;-).
I read your less-than-articulate criticisms of the GW9010-1.
First, you claim that the model is aesthetically-challenged. Could you please explain exactly why this model is ugly? Or do some of you feel that incessantly repeating this claim will somewhow make it true?
When I look at this model, I see the most attractive Mudman ever. The display is clear and uncluttered. It has a bold "cyclops" reception guage. To my knowledge, Casio has implemented atomic timekeeping to a greater extent than any other watch manufacturer. Therefore, I feel that Casio should make the reception gauge the signature stylistic feature for their atomic G-Shocks. This atomic Mudman has a bold reception gauge, and I like the "cyclops" reception gauge.
Furthermore, I think the "honeycomb" pattern on the solar panel is very cool.
Second, you claim that this model is technologically-challenged. Could you please justify that claim? When I look at this model, I see one of very few multiband-6 models. I see a watch with solar power. I see a watch that is the very first G-Shock to incorporate a rally mode. I see a watch with mud-resistance. I see a watch with 200m water-resistance. And so and so forth.
In other words, this watch is loaded with technology that most watches do not possess.
Holger, I look forward to your thoughtful response.

Dude,I think the 'it's just an opinion, we're all OK, lets not be negative' stuff was handled on page 2 with Tribe's post.
Maybe we should just let this one sit for now and concentrate on the watch?
