The action of the button should be very easy to push, and doesn't move far.
If, however, you mean that the button has been replaced by a piece of sponge, they you have an entirely different problem
The Search function on vBulletin forums isn't very smart. If you want to search for a complete string in the G-Shock forum, or for posts which include multiple words, use Google, and enter site:forums.watchuseek.com/f17 into the search box. Then use normal google syntax after that to enter your search.
It really is a bit soft - epecially compared to the DW-6900. I think the metal spring that lets it snap back after pressing it is smaller on the GW-6900 than on the DW-6900.

I am wearing mine today, and can confirm that it really is very soft - I prefer it like that myself and the button is well protected anyway.
