I had to reset a fair number of clocks and watches. I've only got 1 watch and 2 clocks that are atomic.

Yep, I've now got 6 months of adding an hour in my head to the clock in the car.

It's the clock on the microwave that I have trouble with.
Anyway, not for much longer - the whole idea is due to be scrapped in 2021.

How to decide whether we want permanent summer or winter (GMT) time......referendum perhaps?

Your former colonies are already in the summer... though it snowing.
It's not a big deal also gives some incentive to look at your extended collection and see who is not getting wrist time.
My favorite is Sony Dream machine bedside clock. Knows dates of DST change and you don't worry about it. Simple and easy. Wish all digital watches been same.

I used to have one of those! I broke it somehow, but it lasted for a few years...….. mine on the other hand never got the dates right for DST and Normal time.

Perhaps I should have read the manual
