I want a GA 100 but do not want a fake

I would very much like to buy a GA100 but I am hesitant to buy one due to the sheer amount of fakes vs real.

I have read the fake GA100 threads. What are the most tale tale marks of a fake?

The fake, painted-on "speed dial" at 12 o'clock, which is always pointed at "50," is usually a dead giveaway.

I thought I remembered reading where the subdial at 10 o'clock - which should be divided into four sections to indicate alarm, snooze, hourly signal and auto EL on/off -- is divided into five or more sections on fakes.

Buy it from Amazon. My GA-100-1A4 was only $75 and it's not a fake.

where are you seeing "a sheer amount of fakes"? if you search ga100 on ebay you may be lucky to find only a one or two fakes out of hundreds of listings. theres also an article on g street that specifically focuses on the ga100 fakes too

I was initially basing everything on the fake G-Shock reports, and pictures therein.
Also I am not aware of "g-street"

They are getting better, check out this recent thread in the fake G sub-forum. https://forums.watchuseek.com/f232/g-...e-2042186.html

Looks like lately, they are either using real back plates on fakes, or able to stamp it identical to the real one. But yes, some of those sub-dials are still the giveaways. Most likely on the fake ones, they're non-functional.

As for the OP, the best bet is to buy new from reputable retailers. If you're getting used from some unknown sellers, there're always risks of getting fakes. That's not just for this one model, GA-100, but any model of G.

Go to a local shop, an authorized dealer, and buy one. In the real world, not online.

I saw a fake one here earlier the Display font was a dead giveaway!
