Louie Vito – who’s he? Just because you haven’t heard of him doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to have a G-SHOCK named after him. As a matter of fact he is apparently a household name in his native North America. Ohio-born Louie is the four-time US Snowboarding Grand Prix winner, and holds five X Games medals. In 2010, he represented the US at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games and hopes to do the same at Sochi in 2014.
Vito has attracted sponsorship from the likes of brand giants such as Nike and Red Bull and most recently G-SHOCK. His signature watch is the Winter G-Lide GLS8900. It’s been hugely popular in the States and now it’s going to be available for British fans of the rugged Japanese watch.
They don't come much cooler than Louie’s ice cool model, with his preference for colour-blocking, keeping the watch a bold, cold and frosty looking blue, silver and black. The watch is equipped with extreme low temperature resistance, an LCD that fights low temperature fade-out, making it the perfect model for Louie and any winter mountain sports enthusiast. The Snowboard legend’s ‘LV’ signature is engraved on the case back and appears on the band and dial.
If you want one you will have to jump on your snowboard pronto. Just 60 pieces will be on sale in the UK, exclusively from G-Shock East, Brick Lane and the CASIO London flagship store in Covent Garden. Price £110.
