    Idea For A Face Protector

I don't know about you guys but I hate scratches on my stuff. There is nothing worse than scratched stuff. On my cell phone, PDA and Garmin GPS I have installed a thin piece of clear plastic film to protect the faces. These protectors are commercially available and made for each device. I have some extra material and plan to shape it to fit my GW9000 if and when it arrives.

The material just clings to the face and it stays put. The biggest challenge will be cutting it to the right shape.

I don't have problems with scratching the crystal. I have issues with banging up the resin that protects the crystals .

I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

I use one of these protectors on my PDA, but I find it an absolute pig to install. It's really difficult to align perfectly straight along one edge, and it's impossible to move in place one any part of it is 'stuck', so I have to rip it off and try again... and again... and again...

Normally what happens is that I totally wreck 2 or 3 sheets, and eventually I get one in the right place.

    Once it's there, it's great!

Do you have a recommendation for a decent make that's easy to use? (Or any tips for how to install it?)

    Anyway, back to watches...

Scratches on the case don't bother me at all. They just add to character, especially on G's, which I feel don't look quite right unless they've got a few dings and scars.

Scratches on the crystal are OK if they're small, but of course if they're too large (and in the wrong place) they're just totally distracting. I may try putting a protector sheet in my GW-5500 to see how it goes.

There's a much simpler & cheaper way to go about this. If you get a piece of plastic table protector (like your grand mother used to put over the table cloth to keep it clean), it works great. It's available in various thicknesses & will cling to your crystal with water. Simply cut the right size, wet the crystal & then out the plastic on. It can easily be positioned while there is moisture between the face & plastic & stays put. If it gets dirty, just peel it off & put on another. If you can't cut the right size, try the bay - they are called "watch bras" & are still pretty cheap.

This is why I'm inventing a G-Shock silicon protector for the rubber bezel...

...the watch will appear much bigger, but surely you can never have too much protection. I think it will sell well.

I bought some protective material for my cell phone screen and it was easy to install becuase it's wet when you install it so ir slides around until you get it positioned.

In Snowback's post, he refers to a commercially available "watch bra." That sounds ideal.

on all my beaters i find that the crystals are in perfect condition, its the straps/bezel that take all the hits and scrapes.
