    Identify this common Shock

I found this Shock on a local FB swap site and the girl wants $30 for it. I'm curious what year & model it is. When I asked her to read the model number all she gave me was a module number. 1289. It looks like a GW7900 but the colors are throwing me off and I haven't seen one with red inlay and grey buttons before. How old is this model?

It looks like a GW7900. Let me do a bit search to narrow down the exact model #.

I'm sorry to inform you, but what you have in the photo could potentially be a fake! What give it away is that it's saying "Multi Band", instead of "Multi Band 6". So far I couldn't find any variation of the GW7900 with that combination of coloring on the casing and on the watch face.

Here's a picture of the G7900-1. This one is without multiband atomic timekeeping. Notice the similarity of outer casing to the one in your picture. And the differences of the watch face.

Here's a video featuring a GW7900-1ER. Notice the similarity of watch face to yours, but the difference in the outer casing.

I think someone used the outer casing of a G7900-1 and put it on a fake GW7900 module.

    Definitely FAKE.
Today would be a good day to delete your Facebook account:

It seemed fishy. I'm glad I came here and asked before I bought it. ..and this is why I don't like buying used. This kind of pisses me off. When I looked at the sellers FB profile, I thought, "A ghetto chick trying to sell stolen G-shocks." so I let it sit on the sale site for a few days. (Yes, I FB stalk anyone I'd meet for a sale, lol.) Then my want for a good deal kicked in and I had to make an offer.

Run away from it. Tell her it's fake and she can keep it. My guess is, she knows its fake. Why else would she offload it for such a low price?
