    I'm clearly hooked.

I'm hooked on the fact that G-Shocks are fun and functional. As long as one keeps with the "working man" models they're also relatively cheap; there are a plethora of models below $200 and plenty below even $100 as well. Keep things below $100 and there's a lot of affordable fun to be had. They're a blast to mod and it's easy to make a particular model your own. If in good condition they appear easy to "flip" on eBay if one gets bored with a particular model after awhile; without losing more than a few bucks which is a big bonus. All in all they're kind of goofy fun while at the same time being practical, rugged, utilitarian, timepieces for the proletariat.

    Yup, I'm a fan.

A man wearing a watch, outside of purely social functions (where, strictly speaking, a watch is not supposed to be worn), makes it clear to everyone in his purview that they are in the presence of a man who considers his time something of value, not something to be wasted.

A man wearing an ostentatiously expensive watch makes it clear to everyone in his purview that they are in the presence of a man who considers little.

I agree,my preference is for the non-luxury G-Shock that comes in under the 150.00 mark.as much as I like the analog examples and high end Masters of G,s which I have owned.they are to me watches that I need to be careful with sort of like a high end Seiko or Swiss counterpart.there is no way that I am going to treat a GW-5000 like I would a DW-5600E or a G-9100.the big bulky nerd tech ABC stuff to me defeats the KISS therory, all I want is the time and a tough watch.IMHO the feature set of the 5600 is better than that of the 5000 with time in all modes.the 5000 mono-chromatic cosmetics are nice along with softer resin and steel chassis but there is no way I,m gonna beat on that watch, its going to get babied,YMMV.

    Re: I'm clearly hooked.

My love of G-Shocks has grown as my taste in G-Shocks has devolved.

I've gone from owning a Rangeman to a few GDs and GAs to a few G9000s and now I wear the DW-5600E more than anything else.

There's something oddly gratifying about the 5600. Simplicity. Compactness. Geeky-ness.

Yeah the gshock koolaid is real. Just got my first, a GG-1000-1a5 and I got it cause I wanted something durable for outdoor wear and activities and whatnot. Didn't think I was going to like it as much as I do, now I want more. Lol
