    Japan Gs

One of my co-workers is scheduled to bring her family to Japan for a vacation soon, and she's supposedly asking if there's anything I'd like her to buy while she's there, since she'll be using her credit card and I can pay her back when she gets returns.

As this is obviously another chance to score a G, I wouldn't want to waste such a rare opportunity by asking for 'common' G models i.e. G-7700 or G-9000 that I could easily buy where I am or over eBay.

So, I'd like to ask you guys if you know of G-Shock models that are exclusive to, or at least mainly available in Japan that I could choose from, whether classic, modern, standard or limited edition releases; I'd appreciate it if you can include their corresponding domestic retail prices, too. Thanks.

    The Silencer: GW-400J-1JF Japan Made

You should be able to get the atomic signals from Japan. Picture from Seiya's web site:

Men In Ice White series was Japan only I think. There as an atomic riseman and a gulfman.

It's not to everybody's tastes though - and not cheap. Personally, I think they were the best release of last year. But I'm sure many people will balk in horror at that suggestion.

    Just a idea, that's all.

That's exactly the point; to get as much ideas as possible. Think of it as a brainstorm -- there are no right or wrong ideas for now.

That would be my pick too. And I'd ask her to see if she can hunt down a non-black one...

I would go for one of these:

    GW-9200PJ-7JF

    or

    GW-9100P-7JF

    or

    GW-9200MSJ-8JF

    Lightbulb Re: Japan Gs

    I would buy a GW-700BTJ-1JF Black Force.

It's one of the most factory-stealthed G-Shocks ever produced - even the caseback is black. Atomic/solar, titanium, reverse display, very clean and uncluttered display, made in Japan, only released in Japan, etc.

Casio no longer makes digital MRG models so this particular watch is about as close as you can get among contemporary G-Shocks.

The price of this particular Black Force model has risen substantially on eBay recently. Perhaps production has ceased? Maybe you can get a better deal in Japan than on eBay.

You see, I agree with Sherms - except that I understood that the Men In Rusty Black was going to be made available around the world.

If you like whites - then Men In Ice White is the way to go.
