With a cannon in town center,Napier. Most of the buildings destroyed in a 1933 earthquake were rebuilt in Art Deco style, giving the city a distinctive architectural style.

A 'tough'suit of armor to go with the GShock, eh?
All in all it was a very enjoyable trip for me and the mrs. We did not take the usual 'touristy' route, but rather spending quality time with family and friends, going mussel-hunting, pistol shooting, riding around the paddocks/pastures in quads, etc. Of course we partook of the local fare as well: rabbit stew, roast piglet, venison and goose and scrummy deserts like Pavlovas, trifles, hokey-pokey ice-cream!
Hope you guys enjoyed the little 'sight-seeing!

    Great pics, thanks for posting.

Nice shot of Mt Ruapehu, it was erupting a bit when we were there I think, early 1999.

I climbed Ngauruhoe when we were there, all my pics are pre digital though!

    Thanks for your comments.
I used 3 different cameras during the trip, A Canon A530 digicam, An Olympus LT-105 35mm autofocus, and a Canon Ixus X-1 APS film camera. I'm no photography buff, just a lazy, point-n-shoot guy, so these cameras did the job pretty well. Just collected the photos from the photolab today for the film cameras - pix turned out nice, esp the panoramic ones of the Canon APS camera.
